Remix maps better NOT be part of the 20 maps at launch. It seems misleading to say that the game features 20 maps if half of the arena maps are remixed.
20 maps. 6 for Warzone. 2 for breakout.
12 for arena. What if half of the arena maps are remixed :(.
Edit: Here is a video with a broader analysis on the subject.

Yeah I’m not too big on remixes, and hopefully there won’t be a lot of those, though I’ve got to admit that Regret is a pretty cool map.
Why? The remixes play quite differently. The only one that looks significantly like its twin is Eden and Empire, and they have several differences in the atmosphere and play style.
The only difference between a regular map and a remix is that the remix reuses some assets, like art styles or basic layouts. They stand on their own as maps.

It’s when they re-make a map from previous Halo games under a different name or when they make a map and make another map just like it with a different scenery, like the map “Truth” and “Regret” that’s in Halo 5.

Hm. I’d be interested in knowing just how faithful a remake can be given the new clambering and sprinting mechanics.

I edited my post explaining more, it’s not just that, it’s also like “Truth” and “Regret” … Same maps, different layout and scenery.
Correction. 14 arena maps, the breakout maps are from forge and forge maps don’t count. Which means the beta forge maps also don’t count towards the 20 launch maps.

Wouldn’t you rather have unique maps based off of original ideas. Instead of maps based off of other maps in the set ?
Perhaps not at launch but for the DLC maps I wouldn’t mind seeing some old favorites. Imagine clambering up to Snipe Tower from Training on The Pit Hnnngg

I think you misunderstood what I meant by Remixes. They are not the same as Remakes. Halo 5 features a new map design approach, where they take existing maps from the set (Empire) and change the layout to offer another experience (Eden).
If we had one Forge map but 100 maps using unique geometry, we’d have 100 maps using unique geometry but all using the same skybox… We’d still have 100 unique maps.
As the remixes do indeed change their skyboxes as well as geometry from each other, I see no reason to worry.

That’s totally different and doesn’t apply. Of course creating maps using blocks offers varied experiences, even if there’s one forge map. However, these remix maps are based off of other maps. Not just created with originality like a forge map would be. It’s about bending the layout. Not creating maps from scratch.
They are under the belief, and I Agree with them, that any maps created in the Forge worlds (This includes the Breakout maps) only count for that world. So you can have like 20 breakout maps using the Breakout forge world map, and it would only count as that one map.

It’s not different. It’s exactly as I just described. Eden and Empire are nothing alike geometrically, Truth and Regret are very similar. All 4 play nothing alike.
Claiming that all Forge maps would be built from scratch but it’s bad that remixes are massages of each other completely are unrelated points. It does not address the point that some maps like Eden and Empire are nothing alike but Truth and Regret are subtle massages. It just states that Forge is different than what 343i uses to build maps, so it’s completely different in thinking… Which it is not.
