You had to fight ai for a base slot?
I miss that, it allowed for some quick veterancy of units and offered a strategy to ensure some early battles, or just get embarrassed by the 3 star sniper rebels and wonder what happened, i still think it needs to return, it added a level of depth and liveliness to the levels that this game as of now is missing.
I think we can all agree on this. However as this requires new graphic assets and possibly new AI I don’t think it’s coming any time soon. Or even coming at all.
Agree. Still find myself avoiding going near them really early on.
Seems odd you can just send one unit to a far base and claim it.

Absolutely not.
Having AI clog up bases made the game slow & borning, RTS being my favorite type of game this is what made me & I know a lot of other people to leave the game.
RTS are naturally slower games we don’t need other elements to slow us down, plus gaining vet level from the AI can result in imbalances in the first part of the game.
Taking mini bases has a massive element of advantages & areas oppountes can strategically abuse by pulling your opponents across the map in multiple locations.
AI controlled mini bases is a waste of time, resources and effort.

that imbalance is what made halo wars, just as sending units to gather resources off the map, it was left to the ones who took advantage of it that were rewarded. Should they remove everything off the map to make it more balanced? And it only slowed you down if you weren’t apt enough to plan for the fight. Say team a just sends their warthog and 2 marines over there and forgets about them, they die and that’s the price you pay for not managing them better but if team b goes over with more marines and attacks them in a more effective manner then he is rewarded as such… looked pretty balanced to me

RTS need to be balanced as possible to keep people happily playing, what you’re suggesting is to create on purpose a imbalance, this would be the biggest mistake.
It basically spits on lower players & purely rewards adept players. completely unfair.

So you are saying that we should balance the game around making it possible for people who are worse at the game beat people with better skill? That is what matchmaking is for. The game is meant to be competitive there shouldn’t be mechanics in place to discourage good decision making, good timing, and good micro. Why shouldn’t a game promote good play? Either way I already started a discussion on this topic if you would like to refer to my thread. https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/forums/38bd6e2ebbb14e5b9b359bb029588800/topics/too-many-free-base-slots/dc422d31-2ab9-4b33-885d-7d4d0f2bd7ff/posts?page=1#post9

If someone is a better player they wont lose… your comment is baffling. You can promote good micro how? Leader abilities, you can promote good marco how? non contested AI bases so you can focus on building.
Would be a welcome edition for map dlc. the sentinels on maps help with veterency.

A competitive game should not dumb itself done for worst players. Making sure its balanced will help worse players because they’ll have a good understanding on why they lose and be anle to improve.

Its a gamble early on for another base because the resource cost. but It can payoff if your opponent isn’t harrasing you.

It’s not dumbing it down, there is noting intelligent in destroying an AI base, it simply slows down everyone mostly those casual players who make the came up mostly.
it also stops Halo Wars 2 from being a spectator game that stops it becoming an E-Spot, by stopping this you limit the player base massively to mostly the most die hard of players. good work on killing the game you want to play with others.

Huh. how is that killing the game? your contradicting yourself. The rts genre isnt the same as before.
Die hard players are the ones who want it to be competitive and what not, and making it an esport wont support casual players.
Remember to use commas correctly, cuz your confusing me.
Not all maps need ai base killing, and casual players won’t worry about esports and competitivness. They just want to have fun.
The game itself has always been competitive and a few Ai bases wont kill it.
Ai bases wont misbalance anything im just saying things shouldnt be in place to hand hold bad b players. Veterency is for all and its a simple mechanic

The game is meant to be competitive there shouldn’t be mechanics in place to discourage good decision making, good timing, and good micro. Why shouldn’t a game promote good play? Either way I already started a discussion on this topic if you would like to refer to my thread. https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/forums/38bd6e2ebbb14e5b9b359bb029588800/topics/too-many-free-base-slots/dc422d31-2ab9-4b33-885d-7d4d0f2bd7ff/posts?page=1#post9

Dont be so self righteous. I didnt mean removing base building was dumbing the game done. smh. your reasoning is odd though. do you know what a spectator game is? lol players want to have fun and so do viewers. dont forget that.
This game is not going to become an E-Sport. I would love it but just no. There aren’t even 5000 people playing this game, who would watch it?

A game in witch people will like to watch on Twitch… Self righteous because I want to help the lower skill players riiiiight.
There is a reason 343i didn’t put them back into the game… you know what the players actually want, not having them
It’s sad! people have so much misplaced confidence in this game. The player base was gone after the first week. They -Yoinked!- up, this reminds me of assasins creed unity. Game was broken, they finally got a patch out a month later. Game dies the next month. Your player base won’t come back to a game they’ve already got refunded on lol. Like I said this game is dead
Like most people in this thread I agree with adding back ai camps. Playing at a casual level it made the early game a little more fun imo. Sadly I doubt it is something they will add at this point in time.

I do miss it, but I’m sure there is a viable reason for it not being here
