Do you remember back in the golden age of halo, before halo 4 existed. When the beloved plasma pistol was good.back in the olden days when it would actually do damage and kill someone. Now in the newer halos it only serves as an EMP or a shield breaker. But it wasn’t always like that. Back in the ancient times, a time that you younglings might not know of. The plasma pistol served not as an almost useless tool, but as a way of self defense as well. If you run had out of ammo in the golden age, but had this weapon you could actually live while holding it. Now in your new era of life. It serves only as a tool, for those who want to help with a vehicle even though in halo 5 vehicles serve no purpose. As well as a tool for those who are unskilled in killing with just your weapons. But no not me I remember a long long time ago the plasma pistol served as a tool and a weapon. But that age has long since past. Before any of you post about it, im not talking about other varients, or overcharging a shot, or useing mellee, i mean just pointing it at someone and going pew pew pew until they die.I don’t know about any of you, but I’m about the break by Xbox one and halo 5 and just go back to playing halo 3. Not just for the plasma pistol, but also for the game entirely.

343i made a good job making useful all the weapons; Plasma Rifle, Supressor, Pistol, AR…are all great
But the Plasma Pistol is still too weak, and it’s only useful in some cases (vehicles (only on Warzone or BTB) and Noob Combo).
I wish 343i made something with it like they did with the Boltshot

You do see what I mean, its almost useless now.
What are you talking about? In arena its one of the most rewarding weapons to use in the game tandem with a precision weapon. I -Yoinking!- hate it in warzone because its a low level req that makes tanks utterly useless.
When have you ever run around trying to kill someone with just the plasma pistol in any game?
The only Plasma Pistol I thought was good for damaging players was the one from CE.

You are exactly what I’m talking about you younglings use it to get rid of shields and then headshot, but back in the golden age if you ran out of ammo and didn’t have time to reload. You could actually live when you pulled out a plasma pistol and shot someone with it.

The Plasma Pistol is actually pretty deadly on its own in Halo 5, and except for Reach and arguably Ce it’s always been useless as a weapon.
No idea what you’re talking about. Its a 1-charge+headshot kill and has strong tracking, which makes it powerful at short-mid range, and its a 2 hit+melee kill with a fast firing rate, which makes it strong in close quarters. And in warzone it renders my legendary level 7 vehicles practically useless with a simple charge. What more do you want it do? Give you a killtacular every time you point it in the general direction of the enemy?

You are also what I am talking about. You use it as a tool, not for its actual purpose. If you had no ammo and had to improvise you used to be able to get a kill with it, and I mean just it no melle no overcharge shot. JUST IT!
I agree with you that the plasma pistol is now solely used for destroying shields and boarding tanks and being a player that started with reach I didn’t really spend much time with Halo 3 but I do remember the Plasma pistol being a legit weapon that I used when I ran out of BR Ammo. In the Halo 3 punchout game mode in MCC half my kills where just the pistol itself. I think that as a weapon the plasma pistol is not very useful I. Halo 5 but it’s effectiveness as a utility is better then ever and I like this iteration of it.

The Plasma Pistols purpose to to disable shields and vehicles. The Plasma Pistol is a tool used in a support-type scenarios. This isn’t the “Golden Age”, weapons have changed, armor has changed, and play mechanics have changed. If you are trying to use the Plasma Pistol any other way, you are doing it wrong.

I was in College when Halo:CE first came out and the Plasma Pistol was pretty useless throughout the course of that game. It worked but chances are you were Sniped or 3-shotted by the time it hit your target. Then in Halo 2, it became overpowered (deemed “noob-combo”) because coupled with quick weapon switching and its homing capabilities there was no dodging it. Then in Halo 3 it became more difficult to use but very useful and felt about right.
I can’t say how it was in Reach and H4 because I avoided their Matchmaking for most part and can’t remember. But, it was always most useful as a combo weapon, one that you knock shields out then switch to a more effective weapon.
In Halo 5, the weapon feels ok. It’s not too easy to use and still very useful when you aim and time it correctly.

Are you… kidding me? The plasma pistol in Halos 2, 3, and ODST was an awful weapon useful only for EMP. With the plasma pistol in Halo 5, I feel like it’s been buffed to its rightful power. I’ve actually been able to kill several players in Warzone/Arena with it, and it’s very useful in campaign. It has power again. It’s just not possible to kill players in multiplayer with the Halo 2/3 plasma pistol.

The Plasma Pistol was only viable as a killing weapon in CE & Reach (arguably). It’s mainly an equalizer for players to try to avoid being vehicle molested & to noob combo.

Plasma Pistol too weak, but the Needler is useless junk now. Should be more powerfull.

Not really. Outside of Warzone (where it can be effective at stopping vehicle spam), the Plasma Pistol is pretty much useless. With how insanely fast the kill times are, by the time someone has fired off a charged shot at me, it has tracked and hit me, and they pull out their precision weapon, I have already killed them with my BR or Magnum. I honestly don’t think I have ever been killed by someone using the Plasma Pistol.

I’ve been playing snice the beginning and can honestly say I don’t remember that.
