Remember when Ranks actually worked in Halo?

This is me, a Platinum 6 playing with Onyx’s and Diamonds, no other Plats. This is garbage.

I’ll have to find it but I was put in a game as plat 1 with two bronzes on my team because ya know SBMM is a real thing
Here it is

I know, this is with focused searching applied to my matchmaking. The hilarious thing is I will lose my games to these high ranking players and I’ll rank down.

That happened to me too in Swat! I was a Plat 1 and there were Silvers and Bronze’s in the game.

I don’t really mind the diversity of ranks. Gives a challenge when you have bad teammates and better enemies. Gives you time to perfect your strengths and improve your weaknesses.

Unless you are in a team with people of a variety of ranks, you should never see anyone over a league above or below you if the system worked right. If someone is a Silver 6 and queues up alone, there shouldn’t be any possibility of anyone in the match being above Gold 6 or below Bronze 6. In addition, you should never see an Onyx solo queuing until you are at least Diamond 4, and Champions can only be in matches with Onyx or other Champions. There has to be enough people to find matches in a reasonable time with that criteria. Also, your KDA should be a factor in your CSR, but not to the point where winning isn’t as important as getting a high KDA. A guy being carried would only gain a small amount of CSR and someone who wrecked people but had a team of bads would only lose a small amount of CSR.

Yesterday I played against a couple of Onyxes in Slayer whereas I was Platinum 1. That was the largest difference in ranking that I’ve seen so far. Most other matches I’ve played thos season were reasonable, with the occasional Diamond 1 or 2 popping in from time to time.

I don’t remember a time, actually.

I was Gold 6 against 2 champions last night. Still won. (It was swat though.)

Believe it or not we don’t want to play mismatched games like that either. I don’t want to play with or against anything other than Onyx or Champion people.

I understand what the system is trying to do I just don’t believe it should put people into games like that. If we’re being completely honest here I also think it’s too easy to get into Onyx in the first place. Half of my games feature a few Onyx players on either team who are dead weight and have no clue what’s going on but have still made it into Onyx. You should be able to drop out of Onyx and it should take longer to get into it (along with previous seasons not affecting your placement. For example: you get plat 2 one season, if you keep playing at the same skill and pace you’ll get placed somewhere in diamond the next season and so on until you either get placed straight into Onyx or you get placed close enough that you stumble into it)

Yeah I’m pretty sure you get matched up by the behind the scenes rank and the rank they show is just there for kicks.

Cough* i am plat 2 and i got matched with 4 champions in swat… thus your argument is invalid

Ranks worked in previous Halo’s?

The onyx’s could’ve just been in a team with a diamond as the leader.

You’s think that is bad? Champion vs when I’m unranked at that point.

Take a look.

This was a couple months back btw!

It’s almost been 10 years since Halo has had a proper matchmaking system…

jesus.

And OP the reason you are getting matched with people way above your skill level, is bc the population sucks.

Otherwise those diamond, onyx, and champion players wouldn’t be able to find games.

A crappy population leads to unevenly matched games.

You know halo 5 is on the top 10 list for Xbox’s most played, right?

Yeahhh the list that accurately measured population was taken down by Microsoft, so try again.

And when that list was up Halo 5 was constantly fighting for that #10 spot.
