Remember this picture?

It was confirmed in a Sparkast that the Infinity can carry multiple Frigates. But, can it carry something even bigger?

Anyone remember this picture, which was shown at Halo Fest 2011? I did a bit of math and the second biggest ship in that picture is about 800 meters long. I looked around and found no current UNSC ship being that long, but it has the engines of any other human ship, strange indeed. There’s also the smaller ship in the picture, which is about the same size and both Frigates and Destroyers, but looks more like a Destroyer, maybe we’ll finally see one in game.

Of course, it is just concept art, so exact lengths and such probably aren’t very accurate. This isn’t something too major, but I thought it was worth pointing out as a lot of people forget about the older pictures.

It might be able to. I think that Frigates would be the biggest ship they would carry. It would be able to deploy way more Frigates easily than Destroyers.

Ok, would someone tell me if im wrong, but isnt a Covenant Capital ship about 3 miles long? and if I heard correctly that the Infinity matches that length?

The Covenant Assault Carrier is about 300 meters shorter than Infinity. But, there is the Covenant Supercarrier, which is MUCH larger than Infinity.

That bigger, but smaller ship is in this video too. Also a little more into the video and you can see some frigates flying next to the infinity.

12 seconds the smaller ship is in the video and at around 26 seconds you can see a frigate next to it.

Pretty sure it’s just another Infinity-style ship. It’s only concept art.

Wow, I looked at that video multiple times today and didn’t make the connection. Thanks for pointing that out. It seems to be some sort of cargo ship judging by the video.

What exactly do you mean by Infinity style ship? If you mean another ship that would serve the same purpose as Infinity, and they had yet to decide which one to use, I don’t think so.

If they had yet to decide to use Infinity by Halo Fest then we wouldn’t have seen it yet. Say they decided not too long after Halo Fest, they would then have to make more concept art, make a model, skin that model, then insert it into most of the levels in campaign. You know how long it takes to do all that with something that size? Plus, what is probably the same ship appears again in the E3 live action trailer.

I guess it could carry something bigger. Not really sure why it would have to though.

The Infinity was designed for peace and colonization was it not? SO the bigger then frigates but smaller than Infinity ships could possible be used maybe as a colonization ship if that is what it is meant to do. As they pass over a planet or something they would like to colonize, they could send one out and that could act as a sort of Ark. I’m not sure if that is what they are for, just an idea I have.

Edit: But then again those ships could just fly along side of it. It may be used as a sort of dock for ships to refuel or something then. But then again, I have no idea and this is just an idea I have.

I too always believed that it was another ship of the same class as the Infinity, except away/below it instead of right beside it. It’s concept art for the ship itself, it doesn’t have to be, nor likely does, represent the canon of the universe in any way, shape or form.

The perception of distance sure is a strange and confusing thing, is it now?

UNSC destroyers are about the same size as Frigates, with much of the same interior structure, the only difference being their amount of firepower and the Destroyer’s ablative armor, which gives it a different shape than the frigate. Just thought I’d clear that up.

Gee, i wonder if they use saygways to get around a ship that big

No, you can probably drive cars around in it.

If you ask me, they don’t look like the same class of ship. I may be wrong though.

I dunno, it’s really hard to tell, especially since it’s concept art and the other ships aren’t given any detail.

The UNSC Infinity was designed and created as a warship to be used against the Covenant.

By the time it was comissioned, the war was over, and it was repurposed for peace and exploration.

The second ship has the UNSC Infinity’s shape, maybe it’s another ship of the same kind.

I have to respectfully disagree. If you look close you can see a number of differences.

They’re given some detail. You can see 3 engines in the back, same as Infinity, but there is nothing covering them from the top like there is on Infinity. We can also see that it vaguely resembles a CCS class cruiser in shape, but is definitely human.
