Remember the Halo 2 Leader Boards?

Anyone here old enough to remember the Halo 2 Leader Boards back in 2004-2006 era? Bungie would post the highest ranks on their site for each playlist. I know there was a lot of cheating to get to the top, but there were also a lot of great players at the top who eventually became MLG pros. Like the Ogres, Tsquared, Walshy, Walka and Karma.

I remember spending months just to get the top. One time when I was on a huge win streak I made it to the top 100 in Big Team Battle. I had a great feeling of accomplishment even though I was only there for about a week. The games were dam intense and everyone talked. Players with high ranks became known and Id have joy in my heart because they would be on my team next game. See when we had ranks, it separated us, The casuals were down low having fun, and us competitive guys do our thing.

Yeah I remember those days myself, the frenzy after they reset it before they took it down was very memorable.

Halo2 <3

I miss the old system as well :frowning:

Btw… those pros were already pros from h1 lol

Oh yeah, I remember that 90% of the people above rank 40 had soft mods on their box. So much fun! Why would you want to go back to a system that promotes modding just so you can compete at high levels… That and 360 degree auto-aim. That was so much fun having a guy looking away from you but still head shotting you.

Now the Halo 3 1-50 was fine because you could actually achieve a 50 without modding so you shot rockets when everyone else saw you shooting a BR.

The system was so close to being perfect. But the cheaters/modders/boosters ruined everything.

I would think by now 2013 they have the technology to ban those people.

Anyone played Halo 2 on xbc?

Nope, instead of working on making the system better at detecting cheaters, they just said screw it and scrapped the entire system altogether.

Thats insane, thats like saying lets get rid of the whole NFL and MLB because of those pesky steroids.
