Remember Reach

With all the mentions of “Halo’s Downfall” starting with Reach, I would like to point out that although most posts I have read mention Reach’s multiplayer, there were, actually, a ton of other aspects to the game!

Campaign, armor customization, file browser, custom game options, UI, firefight, voice acting, musical score, graphics, challenges, easter eggs.

All of these other parts of Reach are going unnoticed and I believe that it is hurting what can otherwise be regarded as a very important and well created Halo game, and is shielding ideas that can help make Halo 5 amazing.

This isn’t to say the multiplayer shouldn’t be criticized or admired deepening on the person you ask, but that the other features in Reach were very, very good in terms of idea and execution, and this should not be forgotten when we as a community and 343i think of the future for Halo.

I’d like to say to anyone who reads this and hopefully and members of 343i that read this to recognize what Reach excelled at, and not let the common arguments over the multiplayer to overshadow what it did so well.

By going back and seeing how thorough the user interface is organized and easy to navigate, how enormous and engaging the story was, how the score reflected the feeling of the entire game with a unique and Halo sound, just to name a few examples, ideas for Halo 5 can come into play that don’t only have to dwell on the negatives, but can rely on what Reach did well in areas besides the multiplayer and help shape Halo 5 into
something incredible.

Halo Reach will always be rembered. And I agree with everything u said.

Thanks for reading dude, I’m glad the idea is in the minds of other people at the least.

All in all I love Reach. It was great in its own ways.

Agreed. I’m pretty sure most people don’t actually have a legitimate reason for hating half the Halos, other than trolling.

I remember reach, but h3 is better multiplayer. Campaign reach is 10/10

They don’t require true skill like real Halo. Take Halo 2. Halo 2 requires true skill to nade spam and spawn kill and use glitches and google power weapon spawns. Get good scrub.

I remember reach as the point I turned away from Halo & only have negative thoughts about it so easily forgetting things that were done right like menu ui.

I remember that I didn’t like Reach’s campaign all that much since it was just a big load of teasers like space combat being just a few minutes of tiny skirmishes and the Tip of the Spear battle occurring in the background while you fight small skirmishes, and characters I cared nothing about…well aside from Jorge…and Jun.

Firefight was fun as was Invasion as imbalanced and underutilized as that was but overall not the greatest in my opinion.

To use you as an example, that’s what I’m getting at! Thank you for saying it, I know lots of people do that and to be honest it is easy to get in that mindset. But if we recognize that then some really great new additions can come by acknowledging the other parts of Reach, Halo 5 can get new ideas thrown in as well.

I loved Reach. The campaign was ok for me, but the post TU Multiplayer along with the map packs (including Halo CE Anniversary) was actually really fun. Not to mention the customs and forge that kept me on for hours. Top notch spartan customization and UI. Reach was actually a very solid Halo experience.

Hopefully, Halo 5 will execute its other features immaculately.

Individualy the parts that make up Reach are good but once blended…

it comes down to people being scared of what 343i is doing with the halo. they are uncomfortable about it and anger, negativity is something that is spawned from it. It is more simple then that. Anger spreads just as well as a virus does and you can see it with MCC. One person started to complain and a wildfire arose

Reach was only memorable by the improvements it made to forge, the file browser, and custom game options. The gameplay was sub-par, the sandbox had horrendous balance issues, and the story was full of your typical war movie/video game stereotypes. Playing as Noble Six felt exactly the way they described him, inferior to Master Chief.

I liked Reach but was far from my favorite

i remember reach very well… only thing worse then it might be halo 4

Your post actually made me think back and even though I think reach’s multiplayer was horrible, there were a lot of things about the game I liked. Campaign, armor customizations, and even invasion mode were great.

I like Reach a lot. I just started replaying the campaign. I’m not the biggest fan of the multiplayer. It certainly has its moments, and I’ve enjoyed the hell out of it from time to time, but armor lock just undermines everything. Every memory of a good match or a particularly fun time is always trumped by a horrible memory of armor lock un-sticking a plasma grenade or defeating my rocket launcher.

That said, the UI, Forge, Fileshare, etc, (all those things you mentioned) were done very well. Probably the best in the series.

Remember Reach, the game that worked.

People trolling when upset at the Beta.
