Does anyone else miss vehicles being part of team slayer and objective modes? It’s recently occurred to me how little vehicular gameplay Halo has these days outside of warzone. I really wish we could have them in arena but the maps wouldn’t allow it in Halo 5.
Those were good times. 343 has been vehicle stingy, even with BTB.

The new sandbox has somewhat ruined vehicle gameplay, super accurate precision weapons just rip vehicles to shreds. Halo 5 is very much built round fps combat only.

This has been one of my biggest critics of Halo 5. Vehicles was a big reason Halo was special, now 343 would rather have vehicles that blow up from a light breeze!
Good times. It’s a shame that the warthog has become the biggest joke and it always was my go to vehicle.
Glad to see I’m not the only one, I really miss grabbing a ghost or warhog in a game of xctf or team slayer, to me it was the same as a power up that was part of map control. I think that if Halo 5 had been build with this in mind it would have been a much more enjoyable experience.
It is a bit of a letdown. I know adding in a vehicle in a multiplayer map does come with its own set of issues, but vehicles in the past have been used as power weapons in the past. They can do it, they just don’t want to. They’re so focused on making the maps great for shooting and running through, but not for a vehicle.

Thats because 343 cares more for E-Sports than they do there fans.

Thing is I don’t feel as if the maps are that great for shooting and running around. Honestly they feel like the weakest maps in Halo to date but I’m a bit biased because I can’t stand that they all have the same metal sci fi theme so I already have a bit of a downer on the maps.
I hadn’t even noticed this to be honest.
Guess it’s no big deal to me.
Most of my favorite all time Halo maps had no vehicles. LOL.
Lockout
Haven
the Pit
Sanctuary
Guardian
Narrows

I never said I didn’t like maps without vehicles i loved all of those maps as well but I think completely removing vehicles from arena seems pretty dull to me. It takes away variaty and means they won’t make maps like Zanzibar or High Grounds or Sandtrap anymore.

Especially with BTB, we have 2 maps with heavy vehicles, it used to be four. Now we get BTB maps with only one vehicle.

The thing is that 343i does not get what competitive community wants. Their version of E-sports is actually pretty casual, with weapon timers, the Sprint, strong autos, bad ranking system, bad map designs, weak pistol etc.
I remember, nothing beats driving warthog on Valhalla !

Oh do I ever!!! Even if it was just a ghost like on snowbound, or even a few mongooses. They were great in 4-4 play. The odd hog every now and then on a map was great too. Like on Zanzibar!! Great map! I miss vehicles on 4-4 play a lot

I agree 100% Vehicles now are big time joke unless you play warzone and use the highest REQ on that vehicles class in combination with a perk as well. I use to the driver on hogs with my friends in past Halo games. Now, none of us dare go in vehicles unless they are really powerful! 343I really needs to make it so small arms fire doesn’t do much or anything at all on certain vehicles…example, why/how do pistol bullets damage a tank!!! I know they have made it so vehicles are more vulnerable in certain spots and that’s good, but still.

(Bold part) I don’t think that they JUST care about E-Sports, I think they just took it a little too far in the sense of almost all 4-4 maps are symmetrical, no map really stands out look wise because 80% of them are a city UNSC map and None use vehicles and so on. They could easily make a few 4-4 maps with vehicles and just not use those maps in the HCS or if they actually had a 4-4 social slayer playlist, they could just use those maps there. I’m glad Competitive halo is back, it’s just too bad they forgot about so many other things in doing so
Crazy to me how people can complain about lack of vehicles in Halo 5. I know OP specified Arena, but with Warzone you can literally spawn whatever vehicle you want at will, and there are a TON of new vehicle variants.
Arena is meant to be super balanced combat, so I understand why vehicles are left out. Warzone is vehicle heaven, get a few kills and spawn whatever you want! Its like BTB on crack!

But you can’t spawnw what ever vehicle you want, you need the req for it and after you use it you need another. If it was like before there would be a Pheaton on an actual map for everyone to have a chance at without Reqs, tanks wouldn’t be spawned from bases where people camp them and banshees wouldn’t spawn in the air you would have to fight to get it.
Warzone takes away the whole concept of controlling the map to secure the power weapons or vehicles and makes them a lot less worthwhile in my opinion.
I don’t miss them. -Yoink- vehicles.

That an vehicle guns need a buff. A vehicle mourned weapon seems to have a slow ttk. Most regular weapons can take a gunner out faster than they can kill any one.

A huge part of Warzone is controlling the map. Getting Spire or Fortress is a HUGE deal, being able to spawn and control the middle of the map gives a team a big advantage.
Also, getting to a REQ level where you can spawn a hog is easily doable, same with a ghost. It can take a few minutes to get a Scorpion or Banshee, but its easily doable in every WZ game. Unless you’re getting destroyed.
