So I really have enjoyed the remakes that 343 have given us. (I know MCC started in a very bad place but it’s much better now) From a campaign point of view I am wondering would you be more interested to see a unaltered/graphically updated remake like we saw with our anniversarys? Or would you want to see them brought more into the modern era? If so what alterations would you want to see?
All this started brewing in my mind after using Microsoft’s $10 gift to purchase the Halo skin pack for Minecraft. I have since been working hard to finish the silent cartographer map that comes with it. It has been a blast experience an old favorite in a brand new medium.
No thanks to a remake, but an Anniversary edition doesn’t really seem like a remake to me. More like an update. I wish they had done a Halo 3 anniversary, given that the graphics are just so much further behind than the other games in the MCC, but it’s still incredibly fun to play. With Reach’s 10 year anniversary around the corner, that would be a great way to add it to the MCC. 343?? eh??

There not gonna remaster halo 3 or reach. Those graphics still hold up
I like the Anniversary updates to the older games, but not until there much older. When the graphics start to seem goofy because of how old they are, that’s when I think it’s time to make an Anniversary version.
Depends on how old the game is. It makes sense to update and change the graphics with games like CE and H2, but later games would just need the ability to be viewed in 4K graphics and 60FPS.
I would love for 343 to out of no where release a bunch of new maps (not remakes) for H2A. The game plays so well. If they added some fresh-made dev maps it would feel like a new game imo. Or heck, even do remakes. Give us some terminal, burial mounds, turf, midship, beaver creek, and midship. Heck let’s do this.
Really appreciate the feedback guys. Thanks! So I’m realizing now that I wasn’t as explicit as I intended to be. What it sounds like I asked you have answered beautifully. What my mind-brain was trying to ask was more: if we saw remasters in the future would you want just same engine with new visuals or would you want to see it more reimagined like for example Halo çe with Sprint added? If you select the latter what new things would you want to see in the classic games?

I would agree with you both it is time for new great content in the haloverse however I wouldn’t say no to remasters again way down the line. This is all just hypothetical.

Yeah I could have been more clear initially.

I would agree the she matters I wouldn’t mind a long wait either even a20 year anniversary would have been done by me and I wouldn’t mind another 10-20 year wait for a"remake or remaster"

I was asking more from a campaign pov however I agree some multiplayer maps would be nice. I get excited any time I see 343 showing love to their games post release.
I love the ‘Anniversary’ remakes, I really do. But how much better would it have been if instead of Halo 2 Anniversary it was Halo 2: Directors Cut with completed and polished versions of all the cut content from the game like the Warthog run, the Dreadnought mission and that giant flood thing that everyone is obsessed about.
So to answer your re-phrased question OP, a total conversion using the original plans and ideas. I guess an in between of a graphical remake and a re-imagining.

I feel like anything is possible. If they came back with your Halo 2: Director’s Cut idea, I’d shell out $30-40 for it. Don’t know if i’d want to pay for a full priced game at $60, but maybe.

Wouldn’t mind a modern take on that very scripted e3 demo either. They may not have had the tech to pull it off back then but I feel like they could do pretty much all that demo promised now.
I also wouldn’t mind shelling out for a quick mini campaign if I could see some of this stuff put together, the E3 demo, Warthog run, and the dreadnought mission.

If we’re talking down the line, I have no problem with that either. If we’re talking about remasters down the road, I could totally see two "Master Chief Collection" style releases:
Bungie’s Halo: Halo: CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo Reach - Coming Holiday Season 2030 - 343 Industries Halo: Halo 4, Spartan Assault, Spartan Strike, Halo 5: Guardians, Halo Wars 2,Halo Infinite - Coming Holiday Season 2032Just a couple of examples. Remasters sometime after 2030 to introduce the Legendary Halo Series to a completely new generation of gamers.
I’ll be honest, I do like the updated Anniversary editions of Halo CE and 2. It gives me an excuse to frame my original copies of the 2 games to hang them up on my wall of greatest original games in my game room.
