If you haven’t read Glasslands then be warned that this contains spoilers. If you have, then you’ll know that the remaining Spartan II’s and III’s were rescued from shield world Onyx (Along with Dr. Halsey who was kidnapped by Parrangosky). Hallsey asks parrangosky what is going to happen to the rest of her spartans and is told that they may be enlisted as trainers in the spartan-IV training program. What do you think this means for Halo 4? We know that the IV training will be taking place as part of the multiplayer, aboard the UNSC Infinity, so how do you feel about meeting the Spartans in game?
This is purely based on the assumption that Parrangosky will use them as trainers but it surre seems likely.
EDIT: It also has to be concidered that 3 years will have passed between the beginning of the program in (assuming everything goes to plan) 2553 and the time Halo 4 takes place, in 2556.
Coming off Reach, i really hope the Spartans would be more fleshed out and more character development in that department. Thanks to Reach though, being around Spartans isn’t some weird dream anymore.
I think it’s a really cool thing 343 is doing by tying fiction elements with the games in a more serious and in depth manner.
Let me point some things out here, spoilers ahead. The game takes place in July 2557, and Halo 3 ended in March 2553. I has also been said that Chief will cross paths with the UNSC Infinity at some point in the game, that will also tie in with Spartan-Ops which has already been said to cross paths with the main story. Obviously its the same thing so I don’t know why I stated it twice. Frankie has also said that there will be some interesting interactions between the two generations of Spartans(The II’s and IV’s) considering that everyone has believed the Chief to have been dead up until now and he’s essentially a hero back from the dead to them. And with the Infinity crossing paths with the Chief, it also brings the possibility of introducing the remaining II’s and III’s as well since they are likely stationed on the Infinity. The II’s to train the IV’s, and the III’s folded into the IV’s for further training. So we may very well see the book characters, the Chief’s old team in particular, appear at least in the end of Halo 4, if not in Halo 5.

I hope so, I’d love to see Blue Team make an appearance.

If cannon is correct, they would probably be part of the Spartan-IV programme
Actually the IIs and IIIs have been folded into the IV program in glasslands. The Spartan IIs aren’t going to train the new IVs and the IIIs are already finished training. The only reason that the last few teams of IIIs were on Onyx for top honors, not to finalize training.
