One thing i have always enjoyed with the cutscenes in a Halo game is that they have always been handled so well concerning subtle- as in no over exaggerated motions. Anniversary demonstrated very clearly that this side of things was handled extremely badly with Chief and the actor in charge of Chief’s motion capture being far too ott regards to his nodding head motions. Not a hint of understanding by the people in charge of this that a nodding motion like this is never to the extent that it becomes incredibly obvious it’s happening like we got in the remake. Nodding is a very subtle thing and it looks plain stupid in those cutscenes now because the chief’s head is unaturally bobbing to the point that it looks patronising. Perhaps not everyone will even care or notice it but the one thing Bungie stood for was very slick direction in this regard.It may seem a trivial thing then but it’s one aspect that comes off as incredibly naff and jarring to those that do see a cheapened scene this way. Those new anniversary cutscenes are quite good in places but really quite awful at times certainly side by side
Please can we have some confirmation then that you guys aren’t going to royally muck this up again
