Recently, Halo has undergone a tragic loss. Its a loss that we as a community have never fully acknowledged. This loss was the disappearance of the Covenant Spectre from Halo. A tragedy beyond any form of magnitude. After it’s departure from Halo 2 all those years ago, Halo has never once been the same. No more are the days of riding around with 4 players on a covenant hovercraft that climbs walls. Now, we leave behind one of our friends as we drive the inferior Warthog. It’s time that we change that however. Bring back the Spectre, and the community will finally be at peace.
BRING IT BACK
ORRRR We need more Wasps to fly all four of us around the map! But also yes bring back Spectre I WANT ALLL THEE VEHICLESSSS!
I wouldn’t mind it coming back, but it needs to differentiate itself more from the Warthog.
The Needle Hog in H5 is a good starting point as far as the usefulness. Skin that as a Banished vehicle and go from there.
We may not be able to wort wort with our Elite brothers, but let use have their honor filled hovercraft
More like re-live the horror yikes
If the Swords of Sanghelios make an entrance in Infinite, the Specter should be the vehicle they arrive in.
Give it shields and we’re set baby
17 years and it deserves a shot at life. Lets grab 3 buddies and tear up Zeta Halo on our rocket boosted spectres.
Imagine this vehicle in a 64v64 massive objective battle…the possibilities.
I’d put money on seeing it again
We need a DLC where you play as an elite on a spectre, on the ark, where he dual-wields and hangs out with red team and the rookie, and Noble 6.
Y’all defo saw that RocketSloth video then huh
I mean sure they could bring back the Spectre. I can’t say I personally miss it much.
If it fits in the sandbox, sure bring it back. Otherwise I’d rather not have something here just for the sake of it.
Plus with the game’s enemy faction being primarily The Banished I can’t see the spectre returning as it’s more of an Sangheili vehicle in origin. Maybe later down the line…maybe.

Yeah, a friend sent me the RocketSloth video and petition. Thought I would jump onboard as well lol.
However, I do believe it would make some sense for its return. Ever since Halo 3, we’ve never seen Bungie or 343i really experimenting with team based covenant vehicles. The closest attempts we had were the Brute Prowler and the Covenant Spectre. The rest is just dust and echoes. It’s return could brighten up the Banished/Covenant vehicle sandbox, but with some limitations. It needs to be fully fleshed out and distinguished from the Warthog. The biggest flaw with the Spectre in H2 was how redundant compared to the Warthog. If they’re to add it to Infinite, it needs to avoid this. Seeing as covenant vehicles have a tendency to be somewhat slow and cumbersome (with the exception of the Ghost), the Spectre could fill the role of a fast counter to the Warthog. Instead of it’s slow speed, it can somewhat match that of the warthog. An additional feature to this could be seen as a “Boost” ability. This could work closely in function to the Boost on the Chopper in H3. This makes the Spectre useful as a “quick team transporter”, and would fit into the Banished approach of fast yet sometimes ineffective vehicles. The biggest issue would be its turret. I fully believe that the Spectre should entirely take the role of a team-transport instead of a covenant warthog. To fit this role, the auto plasma turret could be replaced. The turret could be made slower, and fire somewhat light and ineffective needler rounds. Taking inspiration from the H5 Needler Warthog. This allows the Spectre to be used as a fast transport, while also making it a fragile target. These are just thoughts, but regardless of how it goes, I would still love to see the return of the Spectre.
The transport idea could be something that may be built on in Infinite. We haven’t seen any Banished ground transportation. The only possible one would have been the MegaContrux “Banished Skiff”, yet that was later denounced as not being within infinite. Of course, Phantoms would fill the obvious transport role. Yet I believe it could be agreed upon that having a Banished-ground-transport would add character to the gameplay. The explorable sections of the ring are huge from what we’ve seen, and vehicles are obviously a key factor that has been focused on. Allowing a Banished ground vehicle would allow for all sorts of interesting encounters within Infinite’s campaign. Warthog runs could be interrupted by a Banished patrol party, leading to dynamic and random encounters. At night, Phantoms fly overhead as spectres with spot lights search the forrest. The possibilities for world encounters would go so far. This is the best chance 343 has to bring it back, and they should fully go for it.
Eh, Spectre’s honestly not that interesting a design from a gameplay standpoint, the skyrim horse level climbing doesn’t really change the fact that it was always just a Covenant Warthog with a tickle cannon.
The Revenant was a much better design that filled a similar niche without just feeling like a Warthog with a boost. I would also be perfectly happy to see something new provided it doesn’t fall into the same redundant trap coughProwlercough
I could take it or leave it but I understand the appeal for it. I agree with some of the other users though that the revenant was more unique and interesting to see used on the field.
We should bring back all the different vehicles, cause why not?

Maybe, just maybe, the world is finally ready for the forerunner tank.

Yes!
