headahh

This time E3 is being organised as a virtual event… so it’s the perfect time to release a demo.

Im actually talking about the demo from last year, being made playable for us to enjoy

I know. But the best time for a demo is still around E3.

What would be cool is having the original demo AND it’s updated counterpart - so we could really see / feel the progress (not going to happen though).

I’d rather have a proper open multiplayer beta over the summer.

Would love this to happen! However i think instead we’re going to have an amazing multiplayer beta this summer, which is just a couple months away.

They’re not gonna release a demo lol you’re gonna have to wait until summer when they’ll do their flighting.

344 wouldn’t release the demo… 343 would

I think they’re going to drop a MP beta during E3 this year. But I thought the same last year, soooo…

I very much doubt they would give us the E3 demo to play on, in any shape or form.
I think they even answered a question a while back about being able to play the demo area, and the response was “yeah, when the game comes out”.

But what I’d quite like to see is the same demo area, but replayed now that they have been working on the game for another year, to see all the improvements and such.

I would love a campaign Beta.
I would even be happier if they released a campaign beta this year, and the full game next year, with time to do more improvements and changes

Thats never gonna happen also probably not a great idea since releasing a demo is usually part of marketing and to market an old build of the game that people didnt like sounds horrible for infinite’s image

Although I’d like a genuine multiplayer beta, and strongly believe it’s needed for technical and promotional reasons, I’m not confident they’ll hold one. It’s possible studio management wrongly considers flighting the same thing and will go down that path instead. Time will tell.

I wouldn’t show the same area again, just to avoid to “still looks like crap” debate. A new area would be the best route, and we’ve waited all this time for something new not the same part again lol.

I disagree for many reasons but most important:

  • Any flighting (and as others have said above - it will be flighting as part of an extended beta programme not a demo) which does take place needs to have its priorities clearly set around getting useful player and technical feedback. There is no point releasing a build which at this stage is over a year old as you’d get no useful feedback. There’s no point releasing anything until you think it’s ready as if you do release something before that even if you say ‘we know x, y, z aren’t right but well fix those’ useful feedback will get frowned out by x, y z,. - A demo as opposed to a beta/flighting programme is primarily used to build hype for a game as a marketing tool - it’s not part of finalising development. Therefore there’d be little point releasing a demo until much closer to release and at least when preorders are open. Given that the game will be available via Game Pass there’s an argument that they don’t need to do a demo at all. IIRC Halo Reach was the last Halo game to do a demo - 343 never have and I suspect never will. - If a flighting programme does take place i sincerely hope early waves will be under NDA (especially anything related to campaign0

343 will probably wait until E3 for betas and flights.

And I’m of the camp that flighting is much more important in today’s gaming, than a true beta to get weapon balance and game play input.

In today’s day and age nothing kills a game faster than launching with bad servers and matchmaking. Balance can be fixed within a month for a lot of games if that’s the devs focus. But launching with bad matchmaking will take a year or longer to recoup lost players most times.

I gave up on MCC shortly after launch due to how terrible the system was. I only came back when they added Reach.

Can someone educate me: what is the difference between Flighting and Beta tests? Seems like they are the same thing from my perspective.
