Release date: December 31?

The in-console xbox store lists December 31 as the release date. Is this a placeholder or confirmed? Everything else just says holiday 2020.

It’s a place holder date. There’s no way a triple A game would miss the xmas window like that lol

December 31 is place holder date not a real release date for halo infinite never come out after Christmas right guys u agree

And Google says halo infinite coming in December

I wish it would just get delayed and developed exclusively for the Xbox Series X.

Do people still not know what a place holder is?

Why? Next gen consoles won’t be as powerful as the previous past two generations of pc’s. They have already confirmed its a free to play multi-player, and it will be on the game pass. There is no reason to hold out a game to make it exclusive for anything anymore. Cross play is the future and honestly should have been that way from the get go. With every game pretty much going to some type of micro transaction system its far more profitable to keep player bases alive in games than it is to shut out 75 percent of gamers.

I hope not, Halo Infinite will probably come out before Christmas. I think that October or November makes the most logical sense.

Yeah, I see where you’re coming from, and you are right - live service games are the future now, and there are benefits like keeping the player base alive. I just want the game to take full advantage of the new hardware of the Xbox Series X from day one, which is still superior to the Xbone, and not be a WIP graphically. Like we’re getting a re-mastered version of the game while we’re playing it.

That wouldn’t change much. Developers have been making games for a wide range of hardware since basically the dawn of video games for PCs, developing Halo Infinite to play on both the Xbox One and XSX is not big deal.

So is the XSX version a separate build, or is there one version of the game that’s out for both consoles?

Place holder info is December. Everywhere will list it as 31st December

If it follows normal patterns in games, then it will be the same build for both consoles but the game will only utilize the increased graphical processing power of the more powerful console.

For example, I previously played Assassin’s Creed Odyssey on my Xbox One before I purchased a Xbox One X. Once I booted up the game for the first time on my X1X the game asked me if I wanted to enable 4k textures and HDR mode. That is similar to how a lot of games function when they are cross device.

Think of it in terms of a pc game. You hage moderate cpu and gpu and play a game. You then upgrade to a state of the art cpu and gpu and replay the game. you are still playijg the exact game butbcan crank up the setting. Xbox 1 to xbox one x is the same, as xbox 1 to series x. Same games, you get way the f more from it though.

I thought I saw a Monster countdown clock for some Xbox live redeem codes that would hit zero on December 1st. Someone on IG (maybe TheLegendary117?) said it looked to be the release date of Infinite.

That date works for me. Means we have almost four full months left (three for development before they gotta actually start making hard copies of the game for sale).

Okay, that makes sense - Infinite should have the enhanced features of the XSX, and look a lot better. I just thought I heard someone say ray-tracing wasn’t going to be available day one. Not sure how they would know.

Yeah, like playing on higher settings for a PC that has better specs, that makes sense. I’m not quite as skeptical I guess - as long as Infinite can utilize the features from the XSX like ray-tracing.

Gotta be a fake (last case scenario) date.
I’m hoping Halo comes out sooner than later. I want mah Master Chief!

Very likely the game is gonna release in mid November or late November at the latest, so crazy that we’re very likely only like 3 months away until release.

Theyve confirmed ray tracing will be added post launch . Which honestly given how fed up this year is and they are working at home, im okay with that.
