Just want to know - Is it possible to purchase the game separately from Halo wars 2?
(Or do I have to buy both through ultimate edition?)
You need to buy the Ultimate Edition in order to get a code for HW1
As it stands right now, yes, you will need to have the ultimate edition of Halo Wars 2 to get the DE of Halo Wars 1.
However, I wouldn’t be surprised if they released it separately down the line. (Albeit at a higher price tag)
For the moment is like Call Of Duty with Call Of Duty 4 Remastered.
There is no announcement about the game sold separately, but it should be the case later after the release.

Personally, I welcome the idea of paying 20$ to have Halo Wars 1 on PC.
The ability to play the orginal halo wars two months before halo wars 2 seems like a great use of money and opertunity. When halo wars came out i didnt play it close to launch, i would like to though and now i can.
Can’t wait for it, great that I can play it on my PC as well.
