LSS challenges are a bit problematic - mainly due to the difference between the winning player and the last player is quite often huge. Kills isn’t even the worst offender there. 10.000 score has an even bigger discrepancy.
Getting the 50 kills took me like 10 games (I guess). It’s not that bad when it comes to time invested though as when you’re doing badly you can leave after a quite a short time and start the next game. Since the post launch server-side fix I saw the challenges tracking properly even when leaving early.
Typically I’d say I go through all my weeklies over the period of 5 hours or so. This week I have the feeling that it took me longer (can’t quite say - normally I do them in one go but this week I wasn’t able to do so due to other appointments).
I didn’t particularly mind getting melee kills in LSS (but I got that challenge early on and it was just 10 for me). Backsmacks was a different story though. And if they indeed reduce the number of power equipment spawns (which they arguably should), the backsmacks will turn into a nightmare challenge in LSS.

Once they fixed the challenge tracking, getting kills didn’t take much time at all. Get a few kills, run out of lives, quit, start the next match, etc…
Melee and backsmack challenges are not fun on any playlist but this playlist seems especially problematic for them.

I get 10-15 per game. 5 games for a challenge is in no way ridiculous. You need to take a chill pill.
I think you should hit the Academy for a little while if you honestly think getting a cumulative 50 kills is going to take longer than an hour or so.
If you think I’m wrong, then I’d be inclined to believe the challenge only mildly annoys you, and you’re just on here bashing challenges for likes because it’s “popular”.
Its just another frustration when tacked onto a long list of other frustrations. Playing a game mode I don’t enjoy with no other ways to complete the challenges aside from being shoved into this gamemode I could care less about
Oh no, a challenge that will require a slightly-above average people to play 5 games (50 minutes) Whatever will we do?
Be a brat if you want, but these annoyances are a big contribution to why the games losing population. Make fun of it, its still costing the game

I have 0 empathy for anyone who wants event cosmetics but doesn’t want to play the event game modes. “I want this thing, but I don’t want to do the thing you get it!” is pure entitlement.
It’s the exact same thing when completionists complain about having to play specific modes for unlocks. If you want ALL the stuff, you have to be willing to play ALL the game.
It’s exactly the same here. Do you want the event stuff? Play the event, doesn’t matter what it is. That’s how unlocks work and how they always have worked. Do you dislike the event more than you like the cosmetics? Ok, then -Yoink!- and go play what you want

You don’t have to have empathy but when the population keeps declining you’ll know why. You don’t have to agree with it, but many people don’t want this game to feel like a chore for casual unlocks. This whole system is still the opposite of what Halo used to be with FOMO timegating.

Another set of challenges in this event next tuesday? Are you sure? They havent done this for past events…?
100%, they have done it for all challenges that are one off (like Cyber event) not Tenrai which is one week every month or so.
They also confirmed there will be 10 challenges next week and they will be worth double due to issues this week. So will take you only 5 event challenges to finish the pass next week. They will also be easier.

I used a swap on one that was 25 Headshots or melees (cant remember which) and it replaced it with, “Earn cumulative player score in Last Spartan Standing of 10,000”. I got it done but man did it take long

You know that challenges like 'Kill X Spartans" are not the problem almost anyone has with challenges right? The problem with challenges are ones like ‘Win 2 oddball matches’. These ones where there’s no actual way to directly play what you want for challenge progress, and instead you’re having to roll the dice for 10% of a chance to even get the game mode you need to only then not even progress the challenge.
I just find it odd that you chose one of the easiest challenges to complain about, and then focused your complaint around having to play a specific game mode. All you’ve really done is dilute the real complaints about challenges by including a nothing-burger that’s easy to strike down.
That’s my read on the situation at least
Its not a ridiculous challenge itself, but being stacked with other numerous challenges of equal frustration and annoyance while time-gating is annoying. Most of all of these challenges wouldnt be annoying if they werent timegated.
Its also the SECOND time I had the kill 50 Spartans challenge for LSS

Ultimately it’s not really about what the challenge is as this part is ‘mostly’ subjective to each player. The real issue is that this system even exists at all, not to mention its the only way to obtain any rewards/progress the bp.
With that said though, you are right that the ones based completely on rng, playing specific non-selectable modes, and doing something incredibly specific in a match are objectively the worst.
