With region lock i wasn’t able to see consistent improvements on network side.
Only thing i saw was inability to find games at certain times of the day so WAY MORE UNPLAYLABLE I THINK

The difference in connection is night and day.
I could tell something was up instantly last night but never occurred to me they would actually turn region lock off. All we had to live with was a longer waiting time at off peak hours, a very small price to pay when you consider the alternative - playing on American servers.

low rank players are not even sensitive for high latency because they cant aim anyway. just ignore him.
they pull out their AR and run around like headless chickens. there is no way they can notice the difference between 50ms and 150ms latancy.
When region lock was activated i was one of the first complaining about inability to match (NOT FOR LONGER TIMES).
I’ve always asked for a smarter half way solution, one that prefer nearer players and then widens the search if after a pair of minutes no one is available.Obviously 343 did the cheapest thing once again:
Too much lag? Region lock everything, make people unable to play in certain times of the day
People cannot find matches? Remove it causing nothing but laggy games.We must be able to play at any moment, of course, but privilege nearer games first as every other games already do!
After the region lock being removed … the game is unplayable for me and my friends in the middle east!! we used to play with EU servers with region lock and is was acceptable.
it amazes me how much you can screw things up now and then with your stupid mentality. anyways you are about to loss a lot of halo players if you don’t put it back soon.
how about make it switch the US servers when the queue gets longer than 2:30 minutes?

ok I’m actually done with halo 5. games feel absolutely disgusting. every game I’m not only fighting 4 opponents but also the lag. -Yoink- this.
I’ll play CSGO until they fix this. I played 11 games today at peak hours and all of them except 1 were on american servers.

My first games of qualifying in FFA and I got a mixture of American, Columbian, Canadian and Mexicans and it went as well as you might expect playing people on the other side of the world who are a lot closer to the server than I am (by several thousand miles) . Not many Europeans, if any at all, i certainly didnt spot one and I’m playing at peak EU time.
When we had region lock in place, I’d have had very little latency, now I’m lucky if I trade a kill with someone on half shield.

I don’t want to argue, we’re on the same side but getting rid of region lock wasn’t mandatory.
Obviously a smart system is needed like other games manage but until then or if that isn’t possible then keep region lock in place until a solution is found. It’s not like it couldn’t find any games, regularly this week I’ve played till 2 or 3 am and found games after a few minutes wait. Anything is better than this, I’m literally getting no Europeans, 90% North American then a mixed bag of Canadians and an unusual amount of Latin Americans(!?). In the space of 24 hours I’ve gone from enjoyable games to getting shot through walls, beat down from across the map, my bullets do nothing etc etc etc.
Since Feb it’s been amazing, like old times, playing longer than we should because we’re enjoying the game that much and now this. It’s such a come down.

To be clear: what I tried to say is that with region lock many players wasn’t able at all to find games at certain hours every day.
To me the system must guarantee that, sooner or later, a game will be found**, no “Unable to match” messages.**Said that the system has to privilege nearer players first widening the search only if no one in nearer servers can be found in a decent amount of time and also this, to me, is mandatory.
Don´t no if anybody bring it out befor, but if 343 couldn´t fix the problem, show the connection status, like in Reach, a bar from green to red in the overview menu, so that you know what´s waiting for you and not have to find out?

I would rather wait for days instead of playing on a connection where the Americans can one shot me cross map with a pistol in SWAT. The game is ruined again tbh.

I see what you’re saying and that ideally would be a good solution or allow us to pick halo 3 style or select a server or some smart system. But 343 can’t or won’t do this for some reason.
But if it’s a choice of finding high latency games fast without a region lock.
Or
Finding games slowly, sometimes not at all but low latency with a region lock, id take the region lock any day. It’s been so good to play the past 2 months.
All that’s happened now is, I’ve found games, they were terrible latency games against Americans so now I’ve turned the game off. My friends are already put off at the thought of no eu server’s again and FFA was a joke as I’ve mentioned.
I dont know what are you talking about. With the region lock there was lag too. Not in every match but for me it was the worst when we found a match, we won to 20-50 than something happend and the next match we faced the same enemy team and we lost to 20-50. There was lag even with the region lock, but for many people the game couldnt find any match. Now, the searching is fixed but we have MORE lag. Thats all. The point is the whole game is still not wirking since release date for the EU gamers.
I dont get it because there are a lot of multiplatform games (cod, bf, sw, etc) any there is no lag on any system. The halo is not a new franchise and its an EXCLUSIVE game on only one platform and they cant fix it? Good job, 343! Since your name showed up in halo the brand Halo is dead!
I haven’t noticed anything different. The playlists that didn’t work still don’t. FFA, Breakout, SWAT, Warzone Assault, they’re all still unavailable. I haven’t noticed any of the late people are talking about either. In short, it seems exactly the same.
