How is it that setting it to balanced does that for you?? You have to be joking!! That is what the game was set at originally as a default setting before the option of search preferences was available…lol.

I’m 100% sure that the “Balanced was the default before options” is a complete lie: since the beginning i always found good games with balanced and in less populated playlists is nearly impossible to find someone (always with balanced).
When i put expanded the behaviours is exactly like pre-matchmacking options: instant games in pretty much every playlists, lag 80% of the times.

343 might have changed the balanced search criteria. Before warzone FF I only matched in EU servers on balanced,but now if I leave focus on 90% of times I get NA after the first match and I know it’s a bug since if you invite a teammate with you , he will see that you have focus on, but after playing one match it shows up as balanced to him.

Would you not agree that having “Selectable Servers” or “Selectable Data Centers” would help with your issues or at least make game play better? At this point I feel that these search preferences are not the answer. What do you think?

I’m not sure what 343 did with the servers and/or match making, but I have been getting recently absolutely phenomenal games, it’s so satisfying when my bullets and melees finally land. London here.

This kind of isn’t a 343 issue…anymore… Well it is… It’s their game, but if you want to find balanced/focused games in Australia, you’ll need to find a way to rally the video game playing demographic into turning on and playing Halo again. There just isn’t a local H5 population outside of the hard-core Team Arena fans, who are usually Onyx and better. And even they can struggle to find balanced games in regular match making.
There are so few playing Team Slayer at the moment there’s every chance you’ll be matched against the same Champion level player time and again (despite only being ranked platinum). And after losing two/three times in a row to him resulting in you choosing another playlist, he’ll invite you to his party begging you and whoever else you can get to search balanced Team Slayer… that’s how few locals still play the game.
My advice, if you’re a causal player like myself and still want to play H5, put your frustration with lag behind you and play against North Americans. Even at midnight to 4am their time, there is still a better spread of them online than Australians during our peak hours. Yes, in any close quarters combat situation you’re at a massive massive disadvantage, but the game will still be (kind of) playable. Ignore ranks or adjust your expectations because with a 200-250ms ping to the server you’re probably around half to a full rank worse off than you would be under local conditions.
With respect to selectable servers, even if they were to give you them, what changes…
Say they introduce a selectable server system like H1Z1. All it will say is “Australia: Low”, “North American: Med” or “High”. You still have to pick a server with a population to find a game.
Alternatively, you could always play BO3. There are still plenty of Australian’s (at various skill levels) playing that (at least on PS4).

Yeh fair enough. Thanks for the info, i had done some reading after the post and kinda came to the same conclusion. Nice to get a reply that is constructive. If you ever need ppl for a team in any game just add me. Thanks buddy.
Plekje 343 change the matchmaking system, so ik can choose to play with local players, choose tot play with people who have aan mic, button most of all, if you are playing alone you shouldnt come up against a team. If i am alone ik don’t even want toen play arena any more, beacause i always end playing with people without a mic and most of thee time against a team…
Please change the matchmaoking system!

i only can find games in Team Arena what takes like 5 - 10 minutes for the first one after that it works. When im on a fireteam with at least 2 people it works fine in most playlist.

Additional Details: Prior to the update, searching in teams of 3-4 no matter the rank in team playlists seemed to find games in a reasonable search time (Balanced). Since the update, I cannot find games AT ALL, no matter the party size. Searched by myself, in 2s, 3s and a full Fireteam. With no luck. This is funnelling all Team Arena players into Social Skirmish. And with the loose skill matchmaking some of these games are completely unbalanced and the experience entirely unenjoyable. No restrictions on Fireteam size searching is a big culprit. Constant games of low skilled players against full teams of Onyx and above.
