I would love to have the option to only play with people in my Region. If I live in New York City I only want play with the 10s of millions of players near me. I DO NOT want to get play with people on the other side of the planet. Its incredibly frustrating having to shoot someone 3 times directly in the face with a shotgun for no effect, Jumping over a Ghost a year in advance but getting splattered anyway, getting into a gun fight were im getting 2 shot because in their reality i was walking into a wall for the first 2, or punching a person then unloading a magazine and their shield doesnt drop, or hitting them with multiple grenades and their shield doesnt drop, or shooting them multiple times with a railgun then unloading a full br magazine and they still manage to run off, or sniping them in the face to only drop their shields, or completely outskilling someone by letting them sneak up on me, jump then boost backward to get behind them, punching them in the back then unloading a Saw into their face and still losing the gunfight.
80% of the time the connections are good, the hit detection is some of the best ive seen.
However that all goes out the window when I join what seems to be a server in china or the uk or they are joining an american server.
this isnt a country vs country thing or your internet is worse then mine, Its a latency issue caused by distance and netcoding trying its best to play fair, but inevitably someone gets the short straw.
id also be happy with ping filters. ive heard some say xbox allows players with 600ms ping to play online, which is like tethering you xbox one to a 1980’s cellphone. I suppose those are the Goku Spartans I see from time to time teleporting.

you must be trolling or Extremely new to gaming.
:3 you must never have played BF3. It was common practice for American Players to join European Servers to gain a benefit.
Also ive been recording these things, yay dvr. Unfortunately for me, i delete them since the # of videos exceeds my xboxs daily sodium requirements.
So sure, call me a Liar, and you might as well also say Im responsible for 9/11. Since you have enough evidence for both.
Dedicated Server = P2P where the Peer is just a non player Computer. It doesnt mean that our Xboxs are Utilizing Quantum Entanglement to remove all lag/latency.
And being Around New York with Verizon Fios… Nope not my internet. gg.
343i simply don’t care.
They don’t even bother to appear here in thir own forum.
Damn, there are very long threads repeated more and more times with thousands and thousand of reply asking the same damn thing (like the splitscreen threads, where, instead to other threads, a lot of DIFFERENT people came to ask the same function).
And still they don’t reply, and in fact they simply silently tell you to f*** o**.
And also some brainwashed player pop-up to defend them or their game (-Yoink!-).
343i guys have done and are doing theyr money with cards.
They don’t care at all.

i wouldnt go that far.
they are definitely making games for money, thats what gaming corporations/companies do.
idk if they are not listening.
tho i do acknowledge that halo 4 multiplayer was the worst of all the games, and after the uproar we got Halo 5 which i regard as one of the best Halo Multiplayer experiences i’ve had. Which is great since I also think Halo 4 was the best Campaign so far. If the Trend continues, Halo 6’s campaign and multiplayer will be great.
they approach the community like a company would and not as a member of it. Bungie did a pretty good job of that in the past… No so much anymore tho… just pr reps.

> P2P one player is always the host?
Like Old Halo and CoD games (Dark Souls…), 1 player would be given Host. That persons Console was given the task of Merging everyone’s game states and sending it out. They acted as a Server. However most people dont have good internet and dont live near each other, it also gave the host a significant advantage. Servers try to fix some of those problems, by being in Large Server Farms with Top Tier Internet Connections located in regions to be equidistant to most players. But they are still working with sending signals that can only travel at the speed of light. Its also not 1 continuous wire. Information must be repeated alone the way, transferred, then travel along a winding path of wires to get the the player (likely a much longer path than if it were a straight line). This is why I can SpeedTest servers in Africa and get 50ms ping, the Speed test Colarado and get 90ms ping. The paths are not straight, distance players a role.
So if im in New York connecting to a server in Kentucky below 100ping with 20 others within the region, and 1 player is from Russia for some random reason with 400ms ping (nearly half a second delay)… the server is going to either let that 1 player get screwed over Or have a few exceptions to grant this player some special benefits to remain competitive. In BF3, players were sometimes bullet sponges.

Multyplayer:
you mean playing ONLY alone with strangers or “friends” online. “multyplayer” … lol, that’s sad.
i mean playing mostly splitscreen with friends locally (even LAN with 8+ ppl) OR online, we could choose, and sometimes alone online.
It’s like comparing a vassal with a king.
The story sucks, the matchmaking have few options and with somehow pay-to-be-stronger functions with cards.
You guys are blind.
343i crippled Halo.
Absolutely insane that their is no region lock option.
Halo 5 is unplayable for me. I live in sweden and have a great internet connection, but if i play with americans my latency will go over 200 and i will get kicked and dced constantly, making it impossible to play. According to xboxlive themselves, and you can find it on the site “150ms is minimum for a certified experience”
Why then, are these consoles and -Yoink- being sold all over the world without any -Yoinking!- warning on them? So apparently according to microsoft themselves, most of the games then for pretty much everyone outside of the US are “unplayable”.
I have no control over who i face in competetive matchmaking, and if i get kicked my team will lose, and blame me.
Serious games with companies that care about them, like dota, have region lock functions.
Absolute disgrace that this is not available for halo 5.
Im seriously considering suing microsoft for false advertising/faulty product. Im certain i would win.
I bought a xbox one, halo 5 and xbox live subscription JUST to play halo 5 online. Thats like 600 dollars just down the drain. Its absolutely useless to me now, just collecting dust.
Anyone that has more time then me, feel free to sue them for millions of dollars on behalf of all of us.
Decide to use dedicated servers to prevent the fact that someone has ‘host advantage’ when in the usual P2P situation…then decide to force players from Europe to play on US dedicated servers, thus ensuring that all US players have ‘host advantage’ all the time.

There is region lock but it seems a lot of people in euro countries are complaining about not having servers in their area. I’m in Australia and we have our own servers and I only ever play other Aussies and players from NZ at times. So I think your issue is that you are being put in American servers because that is the best closest option to where you are. -Yoink- deal but until there are more euro servers there is nothing that can be done I’m affreaid
