Regicide win challenges are awful.

Do 343 really understand how long it takes to win 9 regicide matches? I’d understand if it was like a normal ffa where top 50% counted as a win, but having to get first place is absolutely aggravating. It would be aggravating even in a normal ffa where a skilled player could get a solid lead and cement a victory, but regicide is decided (almost) at random in the last 10 seconds.

Possibly the most infuriating aspect of all this is that trueskill seems to count the top %50 as a win, because the people I play have been getting steadily better the more time I put into it. If I’m right about that, then we’re almost assuredly going to end up with a 1/8 chance of winning. (Unless you’re so skilled that trueskill can’t find people on your level to match you with.) That’s exactly where I ended up after 5 hours of play anyway, with a win/loss ratio of 1.6. (Compared to the totally random 1/8 or .125.) This is exactly what you’d expect from an average player going into a trueskill controlled ffa hopper. At first I played against many awful players and got several victories, then it found people my level and slowly started grinding down towards .125.

So what we’re left with is an aggravating, random, spammy, slow gametype where the large skill gap required to counteract the randomness and win consistently will be smoothed over by trueskill.

Last time there was a regicide win challenge, I got around 10x the amount of reward I would have gotten from completing the last regicide wins challenge from the 3 second place wins in a row that made me want to throw my controller through a window.

Now we have a new regicide challenge that requires three times as many victories?! Let me put this in perspective: According to my stats, I have spent around 5 hours in regicide. In that time I got 8 wins. One of my friends who was a 50 in H3 and is a vastly better player than me spent 4 hours in regicide and got 10 wins. This new challenge requires NINE wins. NINE! This challenge expects us to play more regicide in one day than we’ve played since H4 launched, which is absolutely ludicrous considering I’d get more exp from a single game of SpOps than from this challenge.

I have to ask. How many hours on average do you want your daily/weekly/monthly challenges to take? Some days I finish every challenge in a single game, and some days we get this nonsense. Shouldn’t challenges that require a large time investment pay out large sums?

-Edit-

I forgot to add, regicide also skews your global wins and losses towards negative. Just one more reason regicide is obnoxious.

I think anywhere between 1 and 3 hours is a good challenge.

Regicide is infuriating, especially if you’re a good player as it rewards the poor players with overcompensated points.

Is that one of today’s challenges? I haven’t been online yet. If so, that’s poop.

im starting to figure out you gotta use a little strategy at the end…the last 50 points you dont wanna be king. get a kill or two to stay close and then kill the king for the last 30 points all at once. I have came from a distant second a couple times to win by killing the king and getting 35 points all at once.

if you are the king at the end - you are at a disadvantage over 2nd place (if he is close) because he can get more points off killing you than you can get killing him.

I don’t like Regicide, therefore, I don’t like Regicide challenges. I refuse to do them, they’re aggravating as all hell. They need to oust that playlist, and bring back Lone Wolves.

They need to stop trying to make us play regicide. It’s a bad gametype, and nobody plays, so they make challenges and hope people play it more to get the challenges.

Yeah, and then someone kills you and the king while you’re getting in position and you lose. That strategy only works if you’re really lucky.

No joke.

Isn’t that why its called a challenge…?

Regicide, in general, is awful.

I agree I’m getting annoyed with the Regicide challenges. What 343 doesn’t want us to play with friends?

Just don’t do the challenge? simples

I agree with the OP. Regicide is a bloody awful game that always comes down to luck. You can be winning for the whole game and then lose it in the last second.

And the tactics being used are infuriating. I’m getting murdered by Boltshots and loadout stickies just act as get-out-of-jail cards for the enemy even after you outsmart them. Bloody ridiculous but HEY! 343 is going to stubbornly insist it’s a perfectly fine playlist and they will continue to create daily challenges for it for 5 out of the 7 days of the week.

Am so sick of all these issues. But the thing that annoys me most is that there’s absolutely no acknowledgement of the issues from 343.

I once played a game where this player had 29 kills and still lost to me, where I only had 13 or so.

It’s all about killing the King. People fail to realize this and proceed to killing each other thinking that’s going to win them the game.

Back OT: Yes, i’m also getting sick of seeing Regicide challenges too. Same goes for Harvesting Hunters.

Harvesting hunters isn’t so bad, just reset hacksaw over and over again.

If you dislike Regicide then don’t play it.

Ahem, you prefer it to our standard Rumble Pit? How interesting.

Or just play Ep. 3 Chap. 4 once. That’s not the point. 0_o Fail
