Regicide, where are you?

I enjoyed Regicide for these reasons, you always had something to fight and people were not “tryhard” like you see now, even though I was at ~38 CR on it. If I go play Rumble Pit, it’s different. Them 2 people make a massive difference I think there is way more spam since the maps are small on Rumble Pit and it tends just to be BR spam anyway because of what I say “tryhards”, that aint fun that’s boring as hell just doing BR strafe duels across the map. I only want to use my Supressor but nope.

Even if I got the chance to play some Regicide through rumble pit, it wont matter it will still have the extra 2 people in and the same community in Rumble Pit playing it.

I have already made a thread about this, but it was quite some time ago, the reason why i’m making this thread is because it was the main reason why I played halo 4; I could test out my wacky weapon combos there I would just play Regicide with a few of my friends for hours having fun but when 343i removed it I stopped playing. I have recently came back though but I can’t really find the game mode for me anymore.

Is there any indication that Regicide will be brought back as a playlist in some way what isn’t in Rumble Pit at all?

Chances are Regicide may never return in it’s own playlist even in future Halo titles. Reason being that a very large population of people would rather play regular FFA over Regicide which is understandable. I myself dislike Regicide for several reasons. Being king, you are punished for playing well and the player that wins the match is the player with most points as opposed to the player with most kills. Sometimes the gap between first and second place can be 10+ kills despite first place being the player 10+ kills down.

I didn’t hate it nor would I like to see it gone. I went into Regicide looking for a casual experience and in return, it delivered said experience. I don’t believe it deserves it’s own playlist however nor can we afford to have one with population constraints. For now it is fine in Rumble Pit.

I will however agree Rumble Pit is a mess. FFA was always best played with 6 players as opposed to 8. One of the biggest complaints since Rumble Pit was released was that it didn’t play well for 8 players. A year on and the playlist is still a mess and it baffles me why it hasn’t yet been changed to 6. It’s a simple and easy change.

On another note, if your worried about playing Regicide in Rumble Pit with better players who do take the playlist seriously, don’t worry. Do remember Regicide is a very casual gametype that will be voted for by casual players not serious “try-hards”. Also, assuming we get the social ranked split in Halo 5 we can hope to see two separate FFA playlists: Lone Wolves (ranked) and Rumble Pit (social with casual gametypes such as Regicide). Players wanting to take the game seriously can play ranked and casual players can play social. The only problems you would have left is running into clip hunters who find the same duck hunt multikills on less than average players impressive. Bit repetitive if you ask me.

It only takes one level 35+ to make it impossible for me (mid-teens) to have a chance at winning. If the lobby would wait and fill with maybe 1-25’s, then I at least have a “fighting chance” at a win in the FFA version. As it stands now, it seems to just slap the first 8 in and go … IF you can even get a Regicide vote…

At this point, I go into BTB, and beg to anyone on their mic to vote for Regicide - and get it about twice a week… :frowning:

I don’t like regicide. I don’t understand how anyone could like it more than a regular free for all.

For me regicide is very frustrating, I have had games where I have had 6 or 7 more kills than the guy who ended up winning the game. It’s difficult to get a comfortable lead in the game. I’m the king, I go on a killing spree, the guy in second kills me and he collects the max bonus which is basically the same points I got from my 5 kills. The game type punishes the leader so much it’s basically a toss up between the top 3 players who will end up winning.

The king bonuses are bad too, nothing is worse than having the king one shot and just before you finish him off he gets an overshield.

Regicide, will most likely not return as a single playlist. As of now, its only in Rumble Pit, which, IMO does belong there.

BTW, if im not mistaken, this thread belongs to the Matchmaking Section.

Problem is, rumble pit is 8 people. The spawning system does not help.
