All around I think it’s a fun FFA game-mode, but its scoring mechanics reward the luckiest player rather than the most skilled.
For example, you can start a game off getting the first kill, becoming king, and then proceed to keep killing other players to increase your score. You are obviously dominating the competition yet your score increases ever so slow. You die a couple of times by getting double and triple-teamed (as king you show up on everyone’s screens) and the next thing you know an opposing player takes the lead. How? Well because of the bounty system.
No problem, if you kill the king you get the bonus as well…so you go and kill the king and retake the lead. You start dominating the competition again and slowly but surely your score ticks up. But, you can’t win 3v1’s all game, so you die a couple times again…one of those times the 2nd place player finishes you off - didn’t initiate the combat, you killed the player that did - just got off the last shot. They take the lead.
With 2 kills that player has more points than you do with 5…(and you have way more than 5)…well, you hunt that player down and kill them again, regaining the lead, and then lay waste to the opposing players only to be once again outnumbered and picked off by the 2nd place player. Bam, game over.
You lose.
You have 24 kills, 13 deaths, 7 assists, and 2 Regicides.
The winner has 17 kills, 16 deaths, 2 assists, but 7 regicides…
Best part is, you killed the winner 10 times and they only killed you 7…for all 7 of their regicides (and they were most definitively not 1v1’s)…yet they ended up with more points than you because they killed the king the most…except for the fact that you killed them (and everyone else) even more…
You’re tellin’ me the winner deserved that game? Ninja please.
