The spawning, scoring, and winning system as of now is bogus.
6 man ffa, the first three should get a “win” after the match ends
Spawns - the king could handle two people only to be killed by the first guy since he respawned and scoped in on the kings head
Scoring - being King is not worth it. You can get 29 kills and lose to someone with 15 kills only because he kept killing the king.
What YOU can do to fix this playlist:
Add a 5 second re spawn timer for players that are not king.
Its not fair that the king can be doing his job and get ransacked by one person because of a lucky respawn.
Fix scoring. King kills should be worth 15 points towards the overall 300. As of now it is only 10. This would give people more reward for being king. Powerups are rare to achieve and having the indicator above the kings head almost puts a penalty for winning. Give more points for kills as king since this is usually harder to do with multiple people shooting at the king.
First, Second, and Third should be considered a win in a 6 man Regicide. It is a free for all playlist, and scoring should be treated as such.
Regicide just is not fair to the unlucky player or the king. The king has to work twice as hard to win the game for scoring points, has everyone shooting at him, and can easily lose to players only king hunting. The overhead icon already puts the king at a disadvantage. A player who is king should be treated as such, but the playlist seems to treat the kings as peasants.
I’m CSR 40 in the list right now. Some observations
. I’ve had many games being the King for the whole match, thus needing 30 kills to win but players earning 20 kills somehow finish only 10 or 20 points behind me.
. The worst one is the final kill 20 points where you then lose by 10 points - 300 to 290
. King powerups need to be earlier. The King should be like Juggernaut in Halo 3 - overshield on spawn and then Damage Boost after 30 seconds. So often I’ve earned a Comeback Kill (3 deaths in a row) because I have a massive marker over my head and no-one else does. The marker tells everyone where you are at all times - sure it feeds you kills but given truly skilled players you can get wrecked off spawn.
. I agree with the points system you propose. If you don’t want to give me some spawn protection at least give me better score. I kill someone else I get 10, they kill me they get 20. It’s a lot harder being the King and unless if you play hide and seek the powerups don’t come quick enough and the score is insufficient at times.
. Respawn - I’ve lost count of the number of times someone I killed just spawns in front of me for the easy kill. 5 second timers like Rumble Pit Pro.
. Agree with Top half being a win rather than a defeat - it’s FFA. I’ve hovered between CSR 41 and 39 for the last 25 matches yet I’ve won 18 of them, finished 2nd 4 times, 3rd twice and 4th once - technically in FFA scoring I’ve lost 1 time yet I dropped from 41 to 39 then back to 40. If you’re not 1st you’re last in this list.
. The other problem is there aren’t enough people with a decent CSR, anything less than 1st smashes your CSR.
I definitely agree that being the King is no where near worth it. You are worth extra points, and if you manage to stay alive long enough, you get an overshield and damage boost. I feel like this playlist should serve as more of a watered down version of Juggernaut. Maybe give the King some less but always active passive abilities? That’s just my take on it.
I’ve known this since my first time playing Regicide. You’re really preaching to the choir here, 343 hasn’t shown any interest in fixing gametypes like Regicide, Flood, Dominion, etc.
This sounds like a great idea for Regicide. It’s frustrating to see someone who goes negative in that playlist and still wins when I go positive by a wide margin and lose.
The whole “top 3 equals a win” thing is also another big plus if it were implemented. This should apply to all FFA playlists (Flood and Rumble Pit, any others I may be missing) where the top 3 scorers get a win towards their commendations.
I think this is kind of the point of regicide. Kills on the leading player are worth more. It adds strategy to the game, and you can take advantage by not getting too many kills. Often I will try to stay 10 points behind the king or even with him so that I have the opportunity to win from 20 points out (35 if I get an execution) while he has to get to 290 before he can win.
I do end up being king a lot though, and to deal with this situation I will use shielding. I find myself often having to take escape routes to try and recharge my shield because I’ll take out the first enemy but then have more people chasing for the mop up kill. I honestly don’t have a problem with the scoring system, especially since there is rumble pit which you can play if you want a more fair scoring system. If anything I would like to see regicides be worth 15-35 again, but reset to 15 every time king is killed.
For killing the King, you initially gain 15 points, and his bounty can only increase three times (to 30 points per kill), but it also resets upon death
King earns 15 points per kill
New variant called Manhunt, where the waypoint is removed, but bounties are increased (20 initially, 35 point max), and the King still gets 15 points per kill
New variant called Infinity Regicide (Infinicide?), where only the King can call in Ordnance. I know this is a player trait because the Flood can’t call in Ordnance when it is turned on in Flood. To balance, King powerups are disabled.
Add a timer to the King’s HUD when King Powerups are enabled telling how long he is alive, so he can “time” them.
Top 2-3 players should get a win, not just the King

This is why the playlist is broken - you aren’t even trying to get out in front and win. You’d rather wait until you can steal it - your 20 is a max of 10 for the King - you can both be on 280 and only 1 person can win at that point.
