Who thought it was a good idea to punish players for doing well? Please add in normal Free For All, Regicide is a joke.
haha, what’s with this victim complex that people seem to be getting. Oh NOOO i’m being PUNISHED.
regicide has been my favorite thing to come out of the game so far. stay on the bottom ranks or out of the gamemode if you can’t handle a marker above your head in HALO.

Ha no the gametype is just broken. Only played two games and I know that. My last match the top three went like this:
- Me, 27 kills/9 deaths. +18
- 17 kills/18 deaths. -1
- 20 kills/7 deaths. +13
What? One of the above does not belong and should not have second place…

It’s not broken, you just don’t understand the gametype or the objective.

this is how the gamemode works. by using your brain and timing your kills right, you can win the game. not everything is about k/d, you have to prove you can get things done.

Regicide is not an ordinary slayer gametype. Period.
Exactly, its not free for all, it actually requires a little more tactical thinking and contextual awareness than a straight up FFA DM.

And it’s not a replacement to a Rumble Pit FFA style playlist. It’s a game type that should be in FFA. Period.
Regicide is an objective game. This is isn’t the classic slayer we all know. The objective is to assassinate high priority targets: the king, those attempting to kill the king, those who fall victim to the king and those who are close to becoming king. You can do one of these things, maybe two, three or all. You have to become first place. That doesn’t necessarily require getting kills, but rather getting specific points. If you’re a bounty hunter, hunt the king. If you are a lurker who prefers stealth and low profile, wait and kill those approaching the king, then attack him while he’s vulnerable. If you are an evil menace who likes to turn the tide of battle, hunt all top performers (even if they aren’t king) and consume all the points. This isn’t slayer. It is as new as Extraction, which I find very amusing, by the way. Extraction and Regicide are the two game variants in Halo 4 by far that require the most tactical thinking in my opinion.

While I’ve enjoyed playing Regicide a bit (and it can be very fun with a group of friends), I do agree that normal slayer FFA should be added back in.
There have been several occasions where I find myself playing like a normal slayer match and try to hide from attackers or use my hologram, and then realize that I’m the king and that I’ll soon be attacked by at least 2-3 players. The point bonus for killing the king is also frustrating. Why should I get 30 points for waiting until the king is almost dead and one-shotting him while someone else who put in work only gets 5 points for an assist (the same amount as a normal assist) and might have even given their life to try to kill the king? But it’s still very fun, don’t get me wrong. I also shouldn’t be able to come into the middle of a game in progress, kill the king 2-3 times with a 35-point bonus and then magically be in the lead…
If normal slayer FFA is added, though, would we want to see infinity slayer (ordnance drops) or classic slayer with only map weapons? I could go either way. Some ordnance drops would give a major advantage over the rest of the field (power weapon drops vs getting grenades or speed boost) and would still not be normal slayer. On the other hand, I feel that the ordnance system isn’t really used very much and is just in team slayer / BTB.
The main thing I find fun is that 3 of the 5 challenges for today are based around Regicide because 343 are trying to force the player base to play a poorly thought out gametype.

K/D doesn’t win you FFA games, but showing that you can “get things done” does? What do you mean by “get things done”?
Because where I’m from, what I grew up with, and what I believe to be “getting things done” in FFA matches is killing more than dying, and getting more kills than the person who has the most kills.
Regicide ruins that. Regicide sucks. 343i tried to make their own thing, and it failed. Just like Stockpile and Generator Defense failed with Bungie. It’s not really a problem, but Bungie was smart enough to remove it after nobody liked it.

It’s NOT a FFA SLAYER game, it’s a FFA game. That’s be like saying “I got the most kills in oddball, but I didn’t win!”

It’s not slayer and shouldn’t be played like slayer. Kills help, but you also have to know WHO to kill and WHEN to kill them.
If you’re just going straight for kills without thinking about it, you’re playing it wrong. If it was meant to be played exactly like FFA Slayer, it’d be called “FFA Slayer” not “regicide” (crazy, i know, right?). But i mean, there has NEVER been another non-slayer FFA gametype, amiright?
I love Regicide… So do all of my friends…
Regicide is dumb i played one game went +16 and lost to someone who went +2. Never played this horrible playlist again.
FFA please. and 1-50 RANKS, EXP Grinding is getting boring already.
Regicide isn’t dumb, because it’s not about your K/D, or even just the K part of that. It’s essentially an objective gametype.
What is dumb is that there is no option for FFA Slayer. Bringing Lone Wolves back would solve everyone’s issues, because those who don’t like that they don’t win with a high K/D would go play Lone Wolves, and those that like Regicide can play it with others that like Regicide.
