I’m not even going to get into the king bonus and constant marker on your head. What I want to talk about is how only 1st place ranks up. There are six people in the game, two less than Rumble Pit. Yet in Rumble Pit, the first three places get points toward the next rank. The system promotes uncompetitive gameplay because the punishment for second place is too severe. Why would I dare play against a person of equal footing when I could just back out and play bad people?
Oh, I see your problem. You played Regicide.
> Oh, I see your problem. You played Regicide.
The idea isn’t bad, just the implementation of the ranking system in Regicide is.

I’d say the idea is still bad if a player can have more kills and less deaths than a player, and still lose to that player.
Another thread about this again. Regicide was never meant to be treated as regular FFA people, if you want regular FFA, Rumble Pit is right there! Sheez.
Regicide is meant to be a fast-paced and strategic form of FFA gameplay where you do everything you can to gain as much points as possible. This includes going after the King when his bounty is high. The bounty in Matchmaking is now a set amount now.
It’s not a “competitive” playlist nor is it meant to be, it’s meant to be a fun, clever, and crazy gametype where (as Jeff says) KILL THE KING!

Exactly that…Regicide is a fast-match. All i can tell you is, make sure you got the right weapons, if you want to end up in 1st place.
I view Regicide as one of the more casual playlists. It’s there so that people of any skill level can compete for the win. It’s not un-heard of to have people go negative and still place ahead of someone who didn’t go for Regicides. Don’t like it? You’ve got Rumble Pit.
I for one, love Regicide dearly. It’s always been my favorite playlist and gametype. Not because I’m a casual player, but because it’s so damn fun.

I go negative in Regicide a lot of the time. But that’s because they’re necessary moves to become King and win the match.
I could just focus on surviving and killing people, but that’s not exactly how Regicide is meant to be played. Save that for the Rumble Pit.

I concur.
Regicide = Casual
Rumble Pit = Competitive
Regicide is a grenade fest. I like it but I don’t see it as a competitive playlist. Equip Explosives and watch the havoc and multi kills come in.
I enjoy Regicide and have since the beginning. I am glad the King bonus doesn’t change now. Like others have stated it is not meant to be “competitive”. I use it mostly for helping to max out certain weapons, and when I need some fun and quick to play.
Don’t take it too serious and you’ll enjoy it more.

Grenades are great for any hectic gametype in general, such as Multi-Team, Rumble Pit, and Regicide because you can just throw those grenades in there when people are fighting, and it will gain you easy kills. An assist or distraction, at the least.

I am a 50 in rumble pit but thanks.

I don’t see why that matters.

To point out that I am trying to play regicide competitively, yet the scoring system is truly hindering my ability to do so.

You’re playing a casual playlist competitively. That is similar to trying to play public Grifball (with randoms) competitively, or team action sack, or a social playlist in Halo 3, competitively. It is not meant to be played that way and the scoring system is reflecting that.
But you’re a 43 anyways in regicide, so you’re doing alright.

But the problem may be that you are attempting to play an inherently non-competitive game. There is nothing wrong with non-competitive game types (Regicide, Fiesta, Lightning CTF) for those who want a fast-paced, casual game. They’re inherently less competitive by design. To change them to something else destroys their original purpose.
We have a Regicide feedback thread, let’s use that please.
