I can’t stand it. Every time I think about going around a corner, I get an attempted boltshot to the face. Every time I’m at close-ish range, I get an attempted boltshot to the face. Every time I’m at AR range, I get an attempted boltshot to the face. At said range, which is also pistol range, I started unloading on a guy, all shots spot on. but before six came up, BOOM, boltshot to the fricken face. one shot kill from at least 4x melee range from a “secondary” loadout weapon.
This gun is ridiculous.
“oh, but the boltshot has to charge before it can be used that way!”
Yeah, and that charge is relatively quick. maybe about four magnum shots worth of time. Not to mention it only uses half a magazine, which is far from enough to kill you in regular firing mode.
“oh, but if you miss, you’re screwed!”
It’s not all that hard to aim with this weapon. If you can aim a shotgun you can aim the boltshot. why do i say that? because it’s a shotgun.
“quit chasing bad kid!”
I put a guy one shot, he runs, and I don’t see a power weapon on his back. my instinct is to pursue to finish him off. Generally speaking that isn’t a bad call.
It’s not hard to spot a boltshot -insert insulting name with alliteration here- considering they usually dip around the corner for a second to buy time to charge their boltshot, at which point I backpedal immediately from the door, though sometimes they still snipe me with the fricken thing.
Another relatively frequent occurrence is coming down a hallway, seeing someone coming down the other end, so I whip out my AR, it being the appropriate weapon for the situation and start firing, but then I hear the charge and BAP, I’m dead before I can pop his shields. I can avoid this if there’s enough time to react, but there’s a small window for that in some cases.
Screw this weapon. Lower it’s range. Make it take the ENTIRE magazine to kill someone, in BOTH firing modes.
