Why did they replace FFA with this piece of crap? The best player doesn’t always win. For crying out loud, I had 4 more kills (28) than anyone else and 7 more kills than the winner. I had fewer deaths and even the same amount of assists. And I don’t win? This has to be 343s attempt to “not hurt people’s feelings.” I got a message for you 343. This game is rated M. You know what that means? Only people 17 or older can legally purchase it. You do not have to cater to the casual, feeling hurt crowd because guess what? If their feelings get hurt, they’re probably not old enough to legally buy or play the game!
And if someone’s feelings get hurt because they “only got 4 kills” or “they finished in last place” and they are of legal age…well then that person needs to do some soul searching.
Agreed. In Regicide, get punished for being in the lead by getting a huge marker over your head, and not only that, the person who kills you get more points.
It’s about being strategic. The king gets plenty of help for having the draw back of a marker over his head (the overshield, and then later the damage boost). Just try to hover around 2nd or 3rd place, and when the match is about to end go all out for the King. His point value is usually maxed out by then.
But yeah… A standard FFA playlist would make sense. It would make the FFA guys happy and I doubt the Regicide population would change very much. Those of us that like it, really do love it.
They NEED to put in a classic FFA playlist. No waypoints over people’s heads, no bonus points for killing the leader, have it go to 300 points still but have each and every kill be worth 10 points. There, you have yourself a fun playlist where the best player will always win.
The general dislike for this gametype is pretty apparent on almost all levels of the community, and yet 343i still puts out daily challenges for it. I’m just waiting for the reality to sink in that Regicide is never going to be popular, and its destined to fade away into oblivion like VIP and Juggernaut.
Also, there’s one more thing I want to point out.

The ESRB’s rating system is more of a guideline for consumers (read: parents) to get a general overview of a game’s contents before they purchase it. Most game distributors uphold these guidelines when making sales, they are in no way obligated to do so.
Taken from the ESRB’s website:
“Although it does not have the legal authority to implement or enforce retailer sales policies with respect to video games, the ESRB works closely with retailers to: a) provide in-store signage which explains the rating system; b) support their store policies pertaining to the sale or rental of Mature-rated games to minors; and c) help educate and train store associates and employees with regard to the rating system.”
Notice how it says support, and not something like “regulate” or “ensure”.
Anywho, Regicide is nowhere near as entertaining than classic FFA or Lone Wolves-style gametypes in my opinion.
but I win most of the regicide games I play, usually with +20 kills 3 regicides and 10-13 deaths by myself, even better when i play with my bros because it gives me motive to be the king and kill them AND the randoms and have almost 30 kills and the most king time.

This. If you don’t like Regicide, go play something else. Regicide is just meant for fun and trying to kill the King. Of course it’s not going to be regular Slayer.
I love both FFA Regicide and Team Regicide. But I’m not happy that there are no other FFA playlists atm.
I initially hated Regicide but it’s now one of my most-played playlists when I don’t have friends online. I like being able to use fully auto weapons competitively. I like not reverting to team colours. I like the fact that a variety of play styles are feasible (I’m doing fairly well with my grenadier/autosentry loadout at the moment). I like the fact that my Pulse grenades are useful for once. And I like having an odds-on chance of avoiding the damn black screens that crop up constantly in BTB and Dominion.
Basically, it’s a fast and fairly fun playlist that offers something different. No, it’s not “MLG”. No, the person with the best K/D doesn’t always win. Don’t like it? Play another playlist. Me and several thousand others are enjoying it.
Put in Regicide, then put in FFA. Keep them both available for a week. See which one is more popular. Keep them both open for a month. See which one is more popular. Keep them both open for a year. See which one is more popular. I beat you that each and everytime FFA will be more popular.
