Regardless of the hiccups, we ought to be (glad)

(Note from OP: I understand grateful was a bit too much, but i thibk glad is more like it: Glad that this game isn’t a dumpster fire of a video game such as Cyberpunk was upon release, BF2042 and CoD (which is the same game with different coats of paint) Grateful was a strong term, i see that. My apologies for coming off pompus. I’m just really enjoying the game more than most, probably because i’m use to playing solo; i don’t need coop or forge. The game has all i want in it, but i understand if folks want more than that. Here’s to them adding that in the future.)

Halo Infinite is the best game of the year. That, of course, is opinion. But when compared to the competition, it LEAGUES above the latest FPS releases. The campaign is the BEST ONE 343 has made. Is it perfect? No, but they left it open for SO MUCH DLC in the future. 343 put in a lot of work, and even lost people through the years of development.

They should wait as long as possible to release any DLC, they should focus on Anti-Cheat Software and eliminating hackers. Hackers are RUINING multiplayer.

Progression should be alcolades and performance based, the challenges aren’t bad, but honest, i ain’t got time to grind 50xp once the last “Musa sends their regard” passes by.

Spatial audio fixes should be addressed also. It may be minor, but still, they need to go back in and mix the audio.

Halo is back.

Here’s to the best game belonging to this community. Great job, 343.

Hell yeah, this game is frustrating as hell, but when you’re 90 -90 on Oddball and win, it’s a helluva dopamine boost! The game is great, I just wish more people who are enjoying it are active on the forums, but they’re too busy… too busy enjoying the game!

I dunno if it’s the best game of the year ,but it’s not horrible I do hope 343 is really going to shift it into high gear and fix this game and then make it better after the holiday break…

Honestly, I think it’s telling that among this AAA atmosphere of overworked crunched games that release unpolished and require months to fix and balance, Halo: Infinite kind of wins in a lot of ways even though it is missing Forge and Co-Op (two VERY important features for a lot of people) just because what we have so far is decently polished and balanced (when the servers aren’t hiccuping). While it still needs a lot of work, at least that extra year resulted in a 90% functional product.

AAA games really need to reevaluate this trend of “release it now, fix it later”. This works for minor problems but only reduces hype and causes frustration if there are significant issues.

Yeah, AAA devs need to strongly consider the longevity of their games from the start with MINIMAL patches through its lifetime.

I wasn’t into forge and most my friends weren’t down for co-op but i do feel folks’ frustration with those two missing, and i really want to give forge a-go.

we do NOT need to be grateful for a video game product.
thanks

It’s more about the effort 343 put in to give us a well running product. I’m thinking in comparasion to CoD and BF2042.

Agreed… my first playthrough was on Legendary… wanted a real ‘117’ experience, unknown place, and area, bosses and levels .
Fantastic game…I did feel like a hero finishing the fight.

Nice to see some positivity on here, I’m loving the game.

My main issue was the grind on difficult or situational challenges to get the ultimate reward each week but they’ve already changed the challenges to make it fairer.

My son has enjoyed trying out the glitches and level skips in campaign trying to get a very low completion time.

I much prefer the multiplayer here, going back to mcc feels really slow now, and I’ve spent thousands of hours in halo 3 over the years. This is my preferred multiplayer now.

I think Halo has a Identity Crisis. The story in this trilogy (4,5,infinite) seems to have struggled with its direction and hasn’t able to detangle itself from the Bungie Trilogy.

Four Five and Six should have been a new adventure and a new era of Multiplayer!

But 343 didn’t have the balls to break away from its roots.

This is all with hindsight of course.

Then MCC could have been a true testimony to the Bungie years.

100% my version of Halo 4 would of started
off around the year 3552 with the Chief being nothing more than a myth!

343 would have then being free to build their own game!

I’m very sorry you feel such a level of brand loyalty that it has made you blind. I hope you wake up soon.

I’m not grateful for anything that wants money from me. I like the mp. I got some armor. Play BTB a lot. But this isn’t some gift from a friend. Just business between me and 343.

That’s probably still Halo 3. Infinite could become that game, and probably will eventually, but it’s not there yet. It’s too unpolished with too little content and too few features to wear the crown of “best Halo game”.

Lol check out the steam numbers, halo is NOT back. Halo has not held any decent amount of players since halo 3. This game sucks and it’s a shame that the franchise had to completely die this way but it was a long time coming with 343 at the helm.

I’m not talking best Halo game, i’m talking about the best game of the year, or at least in the FPS genre. Read in context next time, bud.

There’s no world where I agree with you that Halo Infinite is “the best game belonging to this community”. That’s Halo 3.

If you wrote something that you did not in fact mean, that’s your problem.

What a valuable response.

So far its a solid game. Lots of room for growth… a little too much (cut content). Multiplayer still has tuning to go, hackers to boot, and content to get. Campaign is a slow drip. Somewhat boring, but once you get past the urge for bombastic play, its relaxing. One of the best video games Ive played starts that way. Ends up delivering a fantastic story. (Horizon Zero Dawn)

343 Industries has had many hurdles to get through. They’re not alone; AAA studios seem to have far too much of that. So far, they’re on a good start. People can dislike the game or like it. its the vocal people that have stupid criticisms without being constructive that do no good.

in terms of Multiplayer FPS games, I feel very confident calling it the best game of the year.
When it comes to Single Player FPS games, honestly, focusing entirely on the story and its characters? Yeah, I could definitely see it being the best game of the year.

the best overall game of the year? No sorry, it’s too unpolished and lacking in the Multiplayer department for me to confidently say that

That’s definitely on purpose. They actively want you to disengage from the game for a period after playing it for about an hour or so, because having players log in daily/come back regularly, rather than binging, is honestly really good for metrics and player health alike.

Grind reduction is literally always good.
