Regarding the uproar over forged BTB maps

The BTB lineup in Reach overwhelmingly consisted of maps made (in Forge) on Forge World. I see Reach getting a lot of love here recently, and the BTB maps in 5, so far, have more variety than Reach. Why the double standard? My only theory is some people can’t accept that 343 isn’t Bungie. Looking at the forums lately, it seems some people think Bungie can do no wrong, and everything 343 does is wrong, even though Bungie did the same thing.

Maybe change the title a little? It makes it seem non constructive.

im fine with them forged, they play good, so what? i honestly dont see they problem with this like others claim.

I’m not bothered about the maps, I just want to play a btb that’s big. 8v8 is pretty lousy for a game of this generation. Warzone doesn’t cut it, you don’t get points for pvp

You’re right. I fixed it. Not trying to start anything, I’m just curious as to why this is such a big issue when no one seemed to mind when Bungie did it.

Reach having community maps for BTB still doesn’t justify 343’s incompetence. Reach is getting lots of love now because people are starting to realize the amount of content Reach had to offer, compared to H5 which doesnt even have half the things Reach offered its players at LAUNCH.

Cool, appreciate it

So slapping the “community” tag on forged maps instantly makes it acceptable? forged maps are forged maps no matter who made them. I don’t get why Bungie using forged maps is considered a great way to add “content”, and when 343 does it it’s incompetence.

He wasn’t necessarily justifying their incompetence so much as pointing out the double standard between 343 and Bungie and I have to say I agree with him.

I don’t really care as long as they are good. Some of them are, some aren’t (which is always the case) so to say that it’s a problem that they’re forged rather than made with dev tools is ridiculous.

$5 billion franchise and $400 million from H5 in the first week and we can’t get a dev made BTB size map? And you don’t understand the uproar? Oooookay…

Bungie literally did the same thing 343 is doing and no one had a problem with it. That’s what i don’t understand.

If you mean Reach being full of forge maps, I remember a lot of people having a problem with that…

Did it result in people giving up the game because of lack of content? Or people calling for another company to make Halo because Bungie was incompetent? (although i suppose that’s a null point because that was announced to be Bungie’s last halo game.)

Yeah, you do get points for PvP.
1 Kill= 1 point.

I thought everyone hated Reach … oh right, it’s been a couple games now. It’s Halo 4’s turn next to be beloved. Who remembers Halo2sucks.com?

Not really a double standard for me, since that was one of many, many reasons that I crucified Reach after giving it 6 months to suck less.

I really don’t care that these maps are all forge made. They play well imo. I rather have good maps in forge than… yeah you get my point.

Except the overuse of forge was criticized at the time.

At least the Invasion maps were also able to be used in BTB and could be used general customs while the same can’t be said of Warzone maps. Still not good mind you, but it is still better than what people got with Halo 5.

As far as I’m concerned all post BTB from Reach-Halo 5 experiences have been inferior for one reason or another, Halo 5 was just particularly lazy about it. Its even worse considering 343 did this in the wake of Bungie’s mistake of relying to heavily on forge.

The thing is that Reach actually had plenty of content in other places. Halo 5 is lacks content in basically every category. Reach had plenty of problems, but it was still filled to the gills with things to do.

C’mon, man. The obvious explanation for that is that most everyone who doesn’t like the latest installment leaves the community and doesn’t come back. It provides the illusion that everyone loved the previous games because you’re only hearing from the ones who are left. In fact, this gets taken to its logical conclusion often times wherein the original audience has long since been replaced after a series of changes to the series resulting in people disparaging older titles and remembering the “good ol’ days” of Reach and 4.

Occasionally you’ll get -Yoink- such as myself who stick around anyway, but that’s more the exception than the rule.

Yes.

I dunno, I just remember like 90% of the BTB Forge maps in Reach being really good, and they had about 20 of them in rotation, while Halo 5 only has around 2 or 3 heavy hitters.
