Regarding the "Deposed!" Weekly Challenge...

I hope 343i never does such a terrible weekly challenge again for this game. It’s simply unbearable, frustrating, and not fun to get. Not to mention nearly impossible.

The fact that this weekly challenge wants you to risk losing the game while going for it just encourages both bad gameplay and a high amount of luck. Not only do you have to kill the King a total of 18 times, but you also have to not somehow WIN the match before doing so to earn the challenge. In doing this, you have to not shoot anybody else in the match but the King, otherwise you risk winning the match and then missing the weekly challenge. Why should the player be punished for playing the objective of the match? This challenge takes an inconsiderable amount of luck because the likely hood that a player can either not win the match, not lose the match, and get 18 Regicides all in one are insanely low.

The other weekly challenge where you have to get 60 Regicides is a much better idea. I would much rather have challenges like that. The most I could get this week for the challenge before I decided to stop playing was 10 Regicides in a single match.

What do you guys think about this? Do you think there is a better way for 343i to introduce their idea for this “Deposed!” challenge, but in a much better way? Perhaps if the Regicide matches scores were doubled or something. Just some constructive criticism for 343i. Thoughts?

to catch boosters and to make people mad

> to catch boosters and to make people mad

How do you know that this challenge was created to catch boosters? Where did you get this information exactly?

The idea that 343i would create a challenge to catch people cheating on their game is both highly unlikely and completely impractical to the players of the game who enjoy it.

Bump.

> to catch boosters and to make people mad

It’s not catching boosters; it’s outright entrapment. Statistically, it’s nearly impossible for this challenge to occur under normal circumstances. Sure, it might happen, but someone always manages to win the Powerball before it gets to a half billion bucks, too. And inevitably, someone on this planet will die of autoerotic asphyxiation this week (there’s probably more like 2-3/day on average). So just because something is theoretically possible doesn’t make it ethical to do as a challenge for players.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way.

I’ve seen quite a few posts saying that this challenge was meant to catch boosters. Or that challenges are randomly generated. Can anyone actually confirm this information?

15 * 18 = 270

300 points to win

This is assuming you only kill the king as soon as he becomes king and not killing anyone else. Discuss

Not only that, but the likelihood of killing the King before HE kills anybody else is really low because you’re usually across the map from the new King whether it’s when you’re the King and you’re killed, or just the chance that someone became King somewhere you weren’t.

This challenge is unreasonable.

glad im not wasting my time going for it.

i had heard it was a glitch and it actually compiled from game to game, and mine did for a couple matches. then eventually reset back to 0 :frowning:

not worth it.

This is the real kicker, You cannot earn this challenge under “normal” gameplay as you have to magically reach the king and kill him everytime before he can kill anyone else otherwise you’ll go over the 300 mark before you hit 18 regicides.

Has anybody actually gotten the challenge legit?

Perhaps 343i will consider changing the idea for this weekly challenge in the future if they realize how low the percentage of players that are acquiring this challenge without actually boosting for it.

Community made fun of reach challenges saying they were too easy. So this was pretty much a -Yoink- slap to show us who’s boss.

I think that’s a terrible way to show us who’s boss. If they wanted to do that, they would give us an actual hard challenge to prove that the challenges are harder than Reach’s easy ones.

The difference in this case is that this challenge isn’t hard or easy. It’s almost entirely luck based, which is why people like myself are so frustrated with it.

Used to catch boosters? At the expense of every other player who doesn’t boost?

Sounds unlikely.

Yeah, that’s why I’m wondering where everyone is getting this idea.

Another illustration of 343i’s poor start with multiplayer.

I wouldn’t say that, it’s just one challenge. I love everything else about Halo 4 so far. I just don’t want anymore challenges like this, it lessens the experience of the game.

Yesterday i had two games compile where i had 9 kills in each, so it said i got the challenge and gave me the xp. But then i go on today and it says that i have 0/18 again. So, i try to for it all in one game. The most i got was 15, only because the team was bad, it was on haven and i had a lot of luck. 18? thats not reasonable.

I got this challenge earlier this week (by an act of god) and I checked my challenges just a little while ago and sure enough 343 took it away from me. Well im most certainly doing that again. And not to mention that the weekly should be worth more.

It seems like if the challenges glitch (which is on occasion) that when the challenge “carries over” when it isn’t supposed to, like with this one, then it won’t count. 343i didn’t necessarily take it away from you.
