Do you think halo 4 will sell more launch day than Reach did? Many fans saw reach as a disapointment and it drove them away. But will the return of master chief be enough?
Do you ever think halo will have a larger launch day than CoD?

I’m pretty sure that this thread is going to cause a flame war, but I have one thing to say.
This is CoD’s last year on top.
That is all.
I don’t think so.
4 is Halos best shot at reclaiming the title,if it fails to attract people away from CoD,Halo most likely never will, but it does not matter for me cause I was hooked from the CE

I disagree. Halo 4 has to be amazing. Other people need to hear, and then they will buy it and get hooked. Halo 5 will sell a ton if halo 4 did good, and halo 6 will sell even more.
Basically, the fate of halo lies within halo 4. If that does good, we can outsell CoD

Nope, CoD has killed itself. There has been no where near as much hype for it this year as there has been in the past. Halo wont beat it because CoD’s a multiplatform game, but it wont have near as many sales next year as it does this year.

I’m pretty sure MW3 is the most pre ordered game of all the CoDs… possibly of all time?

How can “fans” be turned away and disappointed on launch day, when they’ve never played the game…?
Regardless, I predict Halo 4 will break all current launch day video game sales. That includes CoD.

So? Did I say that it wouldn’t sale this year? Nope. I said this is the last year it will be on top.
Accidental post. Nevermind

No, you said “There has been no where near as much hype for it this year as there has been in the past.” I figured you were saying that MW3 wasn’t going to outsell Black Ops and older CoD games.
No matter which way Halo goes it’s only going to keep selling less and less. Most likely, Halo 4 will be a Halo 3 (or Halo 2.5) clone with prettier graphics. And people will complain. It’s what Halo “fans” do. People complained when Halo 3 was out, saying it was more of the same and repetitive, so we got Reach. People complained that it was too different. Halo is going to die harder than Quake, and boring “realistic” shooters will reign supreme for the next decade.
> Halo 4 already has more pre-orders than codmw3 on the pc and is 20th most pre-ordered. pic source
That’s a pretty terrible comparison, since MW3 is primarily a console game. It currently is the most pre-ordered game, with over 23 times the Xbox 360 pre-orders that Halo 4 has. And the PS3 pre-orders is about half that. So saying that people aren’t excited about it is completely unfounded.

When did i ever say anything remotely close to any of that? I was just stating how it is 20th most pre-ordered over a year before release. I could care less about how many cod has, i was just comparing it.

Yes, I think H4 will sell more because the market keeps on growing and Masterchief/Cortana are back. That and its a new start for a trilogy with new enemies and environments most likely and its a pivotal point in the story.
If CoD and this “military shooter” fad pass along with a Halo 4 game that brings out the best in the series and adds excitement to the franchise Halo could take down CoD, but thats not what I care about and nobody else should either except the people making money off the franchise. Whats important is Halo 4 be a good Halo game than the success and the appraisal will follow.

I don’t think it will beat COD for the unfair advantage COD has of being multi-platform. Halo is an exclusive and each game seems to outsell the last. Reach sold more than Halo 3 did on it’s opening weekend.
CEA will give players an idea of what 343 has in store for Halo 4 and then we take the real plunge into their forthcoming awesomecoaster.

It’s already selling more then MW3…(I think)
Also, I think MW3 will be the last good cod since this is Infinity Ward’s last game…so now were going to be stuck with Treyarch…& did you see the horrible game they created last year called Black Ops?
Only good thing on that game was zombies (as usual)
Anyways, I think Halo 4 will become top fps again along with Battlefield
I can’t help but wonder if Halo 4 isn’t being released a bit too soon in order to dethrone CoD. Like some posters before me, I think this is CoD’s last year as a constant record breaker. Sure, the following 2-3 games are probably going to sell extremely well, I’ll give you that. However, the series has been spewing out the same old garbage for a long time now, and it’s only possible to do so for so long without people losing interest. However, I doubt this will happen already next year.
Anyway, Halo 4 is going to sell great. People seem to forget that when it comes to sales, Halo is like an unstoppable force of nature. I don’t have the exact figures in my head, but weren’t the sales along these lines?:
Halo: CE - approx. 10 million
Halo 2 - approx. 10 million
Halo 3 - approx. 10 million
Halo Wars - approx. 2 million
Halo 3: ODST - approx. 5 million
Halo: Reach - approx. 8 million
I don’t have any hard numbers to back that claim up, just a bunch of figures that I heard/thought I heard over the years. Anyway, sure CoD has sold better than Halo these last couple of years. But when looking at theses stats, you realize Halo is still a pretty big franchise. Hence, there is no doubt in my mind H4 will bring in tons of money to MS.
> Do you think halo 4 will sell more launch day than Reach did? Yes, I do. . Many fans saw reach as a disapointment and it drove them away. But will the return of master chief be enough? Just that alone no. I am hoping 343 has some great surprises for us to put it over the top.

> Do you ever think halo will have a larger launch day than CoD? No, COD is like a lightning in a bottle. It just appeals to a huge audience for what ever reason. I think Halo can do really really well but COD has just set the bar so high in terms of sales. I just don’t see Halo 4 breaking those records. I would love to see it happen though.
