Regarding Multiplayer Maps used in Episode 3

The soft kill barriers (those which kill players after 10 seconds) have been removed from Complex and Ragnorak in Spartan Ops Episode 3. Why doesn’t 343i get that we don’t want these in Forge mode? It’s quite obvious that they can be removed, but 343i chooses to limit our creativity by placing them all throughout the three main forge maps. Who thinks that 343i should update the maps available in forge and remove the soft kill barriers?

They began using these in Halo Reach, and they didn’t nothing but aggravate players… Why would they keep them in the game?

Thanks, and bump! I know this has been posted several times before. But the very fact that Spartan Ops now has variants of two multiplayer maps without these stupid barriers is ridiculous.

I think 343, Certain Affinity, whoever needs to realize that we don’t care if the graphical quality goes down (like the far away trees on Forge World). The engine has to be able to handle it because it’s rendering those things anyway, what possible reason is there to not allow us to Forge there? Especially when it’s frustrating places where the graphical quality doesn’t drop at all.

I think I’m most disappointed that you can’t go on top of the towers in Ragnarok any more, I had a fun Infection custom I played with my buddies where the maker hid a teleporter to the top. I was pumped that we could actually make the teleporter invisible now that we can phase stuff, but those kill boundaries and the fact that Flood customization sucks kinda killed that.

Just a personal anecdote

i cant think that one reason might be that if you go out that far or farther then you will see parts of the map the are “unfinished.” meaning that there is no textures or hit boxes

I would love the return of the Guardians, the real guardians.

343i has already shown they can wuite efficiently make auto-turrets and stuff, why no bind that into our borders. Let us do tricks to overcome the guardians and explore again. Overloading sandtrap with a gigantic pile of mines was a blast, and teasing the Covie turrents on Snowbound. It was fun evading the mines on Sandtrap too.

Retuen to Battlefiled returning was a bit depressing for me, especially since there is really no way to get around them.

The Spartan Ops and Multiplayer maps are not actually the same map, though they look the same.

Except for the part where they are the same map…

Also, I understand where everybody’s coming from with the quality of the textures decreasing as you leave a map without soft kill boundaries… But explain Impact. Why can’t we create ships and stuff in space beyond the boundaries they’ve set? The quality of nothingness cannot decrease… Right? So why can’t we go out into space? That would fulfill our need for a completely blank map.

Bump! This is a pressing issue guys, and needs to be resolved or at least mentioned by 343i. Bungie completely disregarded this issue, don’t let 343i do the same. Even if they fix custom games by giving us gametypes we want, we’re not going to have the maps to support them due to the issues with forge.

Oh…oh…oh! I want that. That needs to happen!

Issues like this and the ,not so custom, custom games need to be addressed.

I don’t even care if it takes them months to fix these issues. It’s the fact that we have yet to receive any mention of these issues from them that’s the problem here. Within the first week of release, they should have mentioned the issues in their weekly bulletin, but they didn’t.

Anyone else find it weird that Ragnarok was called “Valhalla”?

Yeah, I found that quite weird as well, considering we were supposed to believe it took place somewhere on Requiem.
