Regarding Customization

So after seeing how we only get armor sets in the MCC I went back and looked at potential unlocks for the Halo 5 beta. By the looks of it we unlock body armor which controls the shoulders and other previously unique customization features and the helmet. Nothing else. Is this how it is going to work in the full game?

As someone who typically mixes and matches everything besides shoulders I have to say I’m going to be disappointed if 343 decides to make customization super limited. I always loved making my Spartan look unique and having those intro sequences will offer a great way for everyone to show off their Spartans, but it will hardly be unique if there’s only 2 things to customize. Please keep customization the way it was 343.

Thoughts?

For beta it would make sense if it was a small amount. But I think it will be something close to halo 4.

I was also wondering where your information is at about this? because if it is based on the premiss of unlocking sets from certain achievements in MCC, there was an outfit in halo reach that gave you everything but the helmet in a bundle and helmet in another.

I just watched a few videos from people who were at Halofest. They were talking about unlocking the body armor and helmets. Maybe it is more customizable than just that, but you seem to at least unlock the armor in sets again. I just wish they’d specify.

I mean i enjoy unlocking it in sets and I am also keeping in mind that the beta is 1 year ahead of released

They need to make the customization similar to reach’s. Also make the armor like reach’s.

I don’t mind unlocking it in sets I just hope sets aren’t the only customization presented to us.

Considering its the beta I’m surprised customization is even there to begin with.

This is a good thread to talk about customization ideas though.

They could bring back weapon skins. You don’t need loadouts for that to work. Simply go to a menu to select the skin you want for certain weapons, and the weapon simply assumes that skin when you spawn with it or pick it up. Unlike loadouts this could also apply to power weapons like the Sniper Rifle.

I wouldn’t worry its still very early but I don’t see why 343i would gimp customization anyway I figured with the mcc it was more of a crunch on time thing.

Noooo I totally understand why people liked the Halo Reach armor but those days are behind us Spartan 3 spi has no place on Spartan 4’s the halo 5 armor looks to be an improvement over 4’s I would just wait for more sets to come out there’s bound to be something for everyone there.

I wouldn’t mind only having sets provided the following criteria are met:

  1. Armour actively receives damage- visor shattering, armour denting ect.
  2. The armour looks decent i.e. much less power rangery more like reach (although this would probably require a complete redesign of the armour).

Of course full customisation ,with the two criteria above, would be ideal.

I really hope they don’t do it like they did in Halo: MCC. Halo: Reach was the first and only Halo game I ever played the multiplayer in (I’ve been playing Halo since CE back in 2001). I can’t remember why I never touched the multiplayer in Halo 4. The only reason why I played Reach was to unlock armor pieces and voices in firefight. I know it sounds strange, but games with unlocks (preferably cosmetics like armor and camo), keeps me playing a lot longer. If it hadn’t been for the fact that firefight brought in more credits, I would have played a lot more multiplayer matches in Reach. It’s also the reason for why I haven’t played the multiplayer in MCC. I don’t care about ranks and with all the armors unlocked, there’s no insentive for me to play. I assume I’m in the minority about this though. If they do have a lot of armor pieces and camo for weapons in Guardians, I’m probably going to be playing it for a long time.

On a side note, why would they count me quitting a custom games as a multiplayer victory in the MCC. That’s ridiculous.

PS: While i think Guardians multiplayer looks good, I’m not going to argue with anyone who primarily plays multiplayer and wants them to change it back. I don’t want 343i to make changes that neglects multiplayer fans in order to appeal to people like me.
