Hi everyone, I’m cross posting this from my original reddit post here. I’ve slightly modified it to also include some opinions from some other redditors.
Custom games in Halo 3 was one of the best things that has ever happened to video games. I feel that customs really died out in Reach for some reason. I mean, it was a regular thing to have a 16 player custom lobby in halo 3, this kind of stuff was rare in reach, or it was for me at least.
I’d really like custom games to be a healthy part of Halo 4. However, in order for this to happen. A couple of things need to change.
-
More custom game options - This is a big one. For example, manipulating Flood game types are VERY limited. If we could get regular infection or simply more options for change in flood that would be good (removing the flood skin would be nice as well)
-
Removing sprint capabilities - This falls into the game options, but some games just don’t need sprint, that’s all there is to it.
-
Play more custom games in general - This one is sort of weird, but if you tend to stay away from customs, try them out and you’ll have a blast. Also, if you see your friends playing custom games, join them. In almost every situation more players = more fun.
-
More forging options - Currently, we only have 3 maps that can really be used to forge something useful. We’re going to need more forge able maps and objects included. A map the size of forge world won’t be an option, the 360 just won’t be able to handle it. However, large sandbox style maps are very encouraged.
-
Fix the custom search- One would figure this would be up and running by now, but still the custom search pulls no entries from the community. Also, on previous titles we were able to download, films, game types, maps, screenshots directly from bungie.net, I thought this was a great feature we could maybe see on waypoint as well.
-
Custom game nights - Earlier on r/halo I saw a post about custom game nights, whatever happened to this? This is a good idea that we should follow through on.
Thanks everybody, hopefully we can get enough feedback to show how much we care about custom games. I really hope our new devs take into consideration of what we have to say.
