To start things off I want to point you to the description of this particular section of the forum. As you can see, non-Halo topics are accepted here. We clear on that? Good.
Now I know I’m just a little bit late, but is anyone else disappointed with the selection of gamerpics that Microsoft has given us for the Xbox One? As someone who isn’t a hipster, I have very few options other than using my avatar (which I do). While I’m glad we aren’t forced to buy gamerpics anymore if we want variety, the problem is that there’s still no variety. Does Microsoft not care that some of us aren’t a part of that social group? While there are plenty of gamerpics, only about ten of them appeal to people like me. It’s a small problem, but I still feel the need to address it.
You’re looking at it from the wrong angle. You need to hop aboard the hipster train! Get some suspenders, buy a 6 pack of IPA, and start eating kale and talking about how you eat kale a lot. Then all of the gamerpics start to look better.

I think you’re more likely to get this fixed on the Xbox forums. But I agree with you wholeheartedly. I picked a pic that looks like the Ice King from Adventure Time.

I’ve never found this to be too big of an issue since 90% of the time I just use my avatar with different costumes (yes I’m one of those people who pay money for avatar outfits), but I see your point. Perhaps if enough people bring this up with MS, they’ll include better gamer pics for various XBO games. MS has done a fairly good job at listening to what features people want and implementing them.
While some of the pics so look like things you would find on a t-shirt at Urban Outfitters, there are plenty of great pics to choose from that are not “hipster”. (the use of that label to show you don’t like something is pretty hilarious. The “Ice King” Adventure Time love falls into the same category, IMO).
I would like to see the return of licensed pics, but the selection they have now is superior to the default 360 pics for sure.

I didn’t refer to them as “hipster” pics because I didn’t like them. I called them that because they’re almost all the kind of things that appeal to the hipster culture.
