Regarding Armor and Customization

K, so we have 175 total armor sets (a lot of them just being different ugly skins).
The amount of ugly armors greatly outnumbers the amount of quality ones. A lot of these armors look very much alike (a lot of the round-topped helmets are super similar).
We have 53 visors. Some of them are all exactly the same (there are like 4 green visors that are barely different).
The only way to unlock them is by pure luck.
Emblem customization is horrendous.
Our color options are even more so.

My suggestions to make armor and customization better:

  1. Cut down on the amount of armor. Very few pieces seem unique or valuable right now. Just keep the good ones, maybe bring back some old favorites (rogue? eod?). With less armor pieces as well, we could also bring back in-depth customization (shoulders, leg, wrist, kankels).

  2. Force us to EARN armor again. Armor has no value currently, because you just randomly unlock it. We should be able to do so via commendations, achievements ranking up (although limit this to a few, unpopular or “noob armors” like air assault and warrior), and maybe community challenges?

  3. Bring back the old emblems. Seriously

  4. Introduce as many colors as possible. This will make for nicer armor.

Sadly, Halo 5 is already upon us, so let us pray that some of this stuff makes it into Halo 6.

Have to agree with ya, I want to earn armor again like in halo 3

Nothing like running around in good ol’ hyabusa, actually having earned it.

I think they should keep what’s in the game right now. But don’t add any more reskins to existing armor.

for example, in the upcoming update with the shinobi armor…which is a welcome addition…there are two reskins for Venture and another set, on top of two more reskins that are legendary. Reskins for armor that is really just not a cool design. It’s just a waste of space and makes it harder to get the armor that actually matters, like centurion or helljumper or copperhead. I mean come on, maverick jester and void dancer comet are not worthy of being legendary armors…now mk V and IV…hell yeah…or even EOD. But seriously 343, cut back on this -Yoink-.

I miss the Halo 4 customization model

Who isnt thinking this. BRING BACK THE OLD WAY. Earning your armor is something you must do, (I guess thats what Helioskrill and Mark VI Gen 1 (and Scarred) are for), thats what kept people playing, not a bunch of Req Packs. Sure we get Free DLC but I want to earn stuff again

I miss my eod so bad

i say thier should be a balance have exclusive sets, stances, skins, etc for reaching a certain level/crs so you can get cool armor and know you didnt spend 1000$\certain amounts of currencies of other conturies to get it like for example: the haunted helmet upgrade from reach for getting 100% rank and armor completion

also add scout gen 1 and reach

Also on my mind lately has been a LASO reward. Very difficult and very worthwhile.

Halo 3 was pretty cool, when you have armor that you earned, it is much more interesting, I recently got the Recon helm from a Bronze pack, It sucked, It was a common helmet. Why dont they have something like the Vidmaster challenge?

That is your opinion, as a week 2 halo CE owner I prefer this, opening packs is fun. As well, since we don’t get armor through achievements anymore there are way more armor sets (71 I believe without skins) again this is my opinion I find opening packs really fun, as well it feels really awesome when you grind packs for the chance to get an armor and you get it. Personally achieving it just doesn’t cut it for me, unless it’s a super hard achievement.

Yeah, we get more armor sets, but many many many of them are ugly/bland/uninteresting. Is that a good thing?

I would like to see an armor customization system similar to Reach. I loved the individual armor pieces of Reach along with the variants (which were far more distinct than skins). This could even be expanded for more individual pieces, and possibly color choices for individual pieces.

If 343 is as hot to trot for the skins as they seem to be I’m all for it, however I would rather it be implemented like your choice of color scheme. Have the skins be unlocks that apply to whatever armor you have equipped.

I also agree with earning armor, be it by achievement, campaign, commendation, SR, or some combination of those and/or others.

The direction Halo 5 went with emblems still baffles me. If they want certain emblems unlocked by commendation or perhaps achievement I’m fine with that, however to make standard emblems (that have been accessible in nearly every Halo game right from the start) locked is a strange decision to say the least. I also find it strange that you can’t pick the exact colors of your emblems.

I feel completing commendations should net you a better reward than an emblem, I like the emblem but maybe throw me a weapon skin for weapon commendations. Armor or something for others.

And that’s about all I have to say about that.

Need more color options!!

We should cut down on the numbers of pieces and split them like left shoulder, right shoulder, and chest so we can have more variations of individual styles with LESS actual armor variations so we can cut the ridiculous ones and all the re-skins out. I think it was Halo 3 that did that right?

Edit: I also agree with the guy above who said the armor skins could be unlocks that we can apply to any armor. Right now I just don’t understand why we have like a dozen Athlon helmets…
