Regarding Anniversary Releases

8th console generation: “Make Halo 3 Anniversary!” “Make Halo Wars Anniversary!” “Make Halo 3: ODST Anniversary!” “Make Halo: Reach Anniversary!”
9th console generation: “Make Halo 3 Anniversary Anniversary!” “Make Halo Wars Anniversary Anniversary!” “Make Halo 3: ODST Anniversary Anniversary!” “Make Halo: Reach Anniversary Anniversary!”
10th console generation: “Make Halo 3 Anniversary Anniversary Anniversary!” “Make Halo Wars Anniversary Anniversary Anniversary!” “Make Halo 3: ODST Anniversary Anniversary Anniversary!” “Make Halo: Reach Anniversary Anniversary Anniversary!”

Do you see the problem? People scream for re-creations of older games left-and-right. “The Xbox One is new and powerful! Make an eight-year-old game sexier!” The masses scream all over the internet. Do you really want Halo 3 (and other games) remastered every time there’s a new console generation? Or would you like new games that you haven’t played countless times already? Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and Halo 2 Anniversary were made for two reasons: to celebrate the ten year anniversaries of two, old, great games and to show the decade-long technological leap. Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 looked great at their times of release, but technology exploded only a few years after they were released. Compare the original Xbox to the Xbox 360 and the graphical leap is outstanding. Comparing the Xbox 360 to the Xbox One and the improvements in visuals are only minor. What if the 9th and 10th generations only spawn consoles of slightly better visuals? Is a Halo 3: Anniversary Anniversary Anniversary really justified? Come on…

I hear what you are saying and yeah I only want a H3 anniversary if it is done in spectacular fashion. Yes the Xbox one has yet to really impress me really graphics wise. It is too early for a H3 anniversary as I don’t think the Xbox one can improve it enough to justify it. Unless there is some more untapped power in these consoles.

Sorry, but as a guy used to the graphics of games such as Halo 4, Watch_Dogs, Deus Ex Human Revolution, and the marvelous Crysis 3… Halo 3 is very dated graphically and it feels like the weakest part of the MCC

No more anniversaries. If every single Halo game after Halo 3 received a 1080p and 60fps boost, then I am fine with that. Halo 3 does not need an anniversary, and neither does any other Halo game that came out on the Xbox 360.

CE got short changed on its Anniversary edition. Didn’t even get the old school multiplayer let alone Anniversary treatment.

And for the record, if 343 needs someone to to be a test subject for a Matrix-style “plug me in” Anniversary edition of Halo CE anytime in the next 50 years, I’m available.

Well they haven’t remastered a remaster yet and I’m pretty sure they don’t plan on it. But to make an anniversary edition on the 10 year anniversary of a successful game is fine with me.

I will never understand why they would use the PC port of the game, rather than the OG Xbox version.

I have no idea how programming works, so IDK why they do what they do. But I am grateful they ported the PC version. But to go to that effort and only give us a 2v2 playlist is bizarre.

Because it’s not very easy to port OG xbox titles. People have been trying to create Xbox emulators, but the technical hurdles are massive without having the official specs of the custom components found in the machine. Gearbox already ported it to the PC which is much easier to bring on to the Xbox one. The PC version operates similarly enough to the xbox version that I can’t really tell the difference. (Of course after several patches). The only noticible differences I can see are the map changes made to Hang em High. Blood Gultch and Battle Creek I can never see the geometry changes.

That’s because Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary wasn’t made simply to make Halo: Combat Evolved prettier. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary was made to celebrate the ten year anniversary of the Halo franchise by combining Bungies’ first and last Halo games with a side of the other Halo games. Simply updating the graphics of the game wouldn’t be nearly enough to justify the occasion.

It’s either easier to port due to having similar hardware to the Xbox 360/Xbox One or it simply runs better.

I agree - they’re not necessary. Except maybe financially for the developer.
