Reduce the range of the Gravity Hammer and Energy Sword to Reach Levels

Problem: The unlimited nature of sprint, combined with the increased range of the Sword and Hammer, makes it far too easy to close to maximum engagement distance and land one or more kills.

Supporting Arguments:

In Halo: Reach, you had to be more cautious about engaging an opponent for the following reasons:

  1. The max range of the Sword and Hammer were limited to just outside of regular melee range, so you had to get much closer to your target. Preferably without being detected.

  2. Sprints’ limited nature, and the normal movement speed of players without Sprint equipped, made attempting to close the distance more of a risk/reward decision.

  3. The presence of effective counter weapons: Shotgun, Concussion rife, grenades, etc.

Solutions:

  1. Reduce the max engagement distances, of the Gravity Hammer and Energy Sword to Halo Reach levels.

  2. Adjust grenade and close range weapon damage to provide a more effective deterrent against melee weapon users.

  3. Reduce sprint speed and/or duration to limit players ability to make effective use of melee weapons.
