One recent topic on outlines had some very good points Check it out here i dont want to repeat myself here, so have a look at my comment in the 1st link.
In that topic I posted a good few points and some Photo’s i edited, showing an idea that i heard from Late night gaming. He had this idea of taken away the body outlines and having the lights on the spartans armour be the FoF system. His idea sparked my imagination, enough so i had to try and make a photo to see how it would look. Lights FoF system Lights FoF system…
I am in no way talented at photoshop and i made these with my potato phone. I wanted to be able to see Late Night Gaming’s idea. Im making this topic so that people would understand his idea and see how it would look like. I like the FoF system, it’s a good idea and im all for it but the outlines dont work well for it. I think having the lights would be better than the full body outlines. Here’s Late night gaming video on outlines

In the link i posted that brings you into another topic. I talk about how being red or blue or having outlines does’t matter. We are subconsciously trained to identify the names above players heads to effortlessly indicate who is enemy and who is your team in a spilt second in multiplayer games. No matter what 343i will have the FoF system regardless in infinite. This idea is to tweak the outlines and make them more appealing and work well with the names above players heads so why not use something we already have. Spartans had lights on there armours ever since Halo ce. Gears done lights too yes but it was a lot easier to identify a human soldier to an enemy locusts soldier on the character design. So comparing gears to halo isnt the same. Even gears and nearly every other game has players names above their heads. Halo infinite will have icons above heads as well as brightly neon outlines unnecessarily covering the player also. These lights as the FoF system would work well with players gametags above their heads, as well as seening shields, if they’re cracked or recharging, not to mention that if there were no outlines you could be able to see players different armours their wearing too without being hidden behind a glowing neon outline. Thanks for your feedback.

Cheers man. I was nervous making this topic
because most things like this are met with negative feedback. Halo fans are set in there ways. Thanks again really appreciate it
I like the idea of having outlines on or off, the lights are a nice touch but can’t really see them being too noticeable in the heat of battle. Playing CoD you just go off of the gamertags above.
I think I’d like to experiment with gamertags on for enemy players, service tags on for friendlies, outlines off. Should be enough for me but if I have any trouble I’d turn outlines on.

You’ve got nothing to be nervous about lol. It’s a great idea and people will always hate and have their own opinions. I think Halo fans are super defensive after everything 343 has done… and some of them are just stubborn boomers lol
If we can’t have RvB, I want this Armor Light system instead (it is the right level of visual aide without blatantly outlining the player’s entire body).

My dude Gears has an enemy team comprised of bug ghoul looking mfs. Any other identifying qualities (armor lights) are extra… which is still good tbh.

I play as Swarm Imago. Definitely not fooling anyone.

Thanks for the feedback. Clearly having players names above their heads is how we identify who is ally and who is enemy. We will have names aboved palyers heads in infinite as well as the outlines. I think that the lights would work better with the players names rather than having outlines.
I honestly don’t understand if there absolutely has to be an outline, why there just can’t be an outline over your team mates and nothing around the opposing team? Honestly you don’t even need them, your team mates have their names above them anyway

I am the exact same way in all honesty. I can play fine with just names above players heads too. After seeing so many topics about RvB and outlines i think its clear that 343 will go foward with the FoF system regardless, since were so close to launch now. I think rather than trying to remove it completely it could be redesigned to suit every player. People who are colour blind or have sight difficulties as well to be helpful for new players.

That friendlies has blue (or whatever color you want) outlines and the enemy don’t have any outline at all, it helps with “player expression”(at least by the enemys and if you play with your friends you see their armor stuff in the main menu) and you can shoot instantly on the target because you don’t see any outline you know directly it’s an enemy.
Or no outlines at all and just the player Name above the head is really nice too. Maybe it exists even better solutions. IDK anymore^^
Yea this is better than the silly outline system for sure. I’d prefer also having a light somewhere on the helmet (not sure if it’s already there and I can’t see it for some reason).

its a -Yoink- idea, idc if its photoshopped poorly, idea is still -Yoink-
It’s a neat concept, but then again I think this makes the visibility much too weak. You should be able to recognize them at a glance, no matter which body part you are seeing.

I’m pretty sure these lights are on just about every side of the Spartans. But I get what you’re saying.
The Armor Light system would need the slightest lens flare effect to make it a tad more visible (too much would be overkill). I just think it’s a really cool idea to utilize these lights that are on every Spartan, and it is a huge step up from just outlining the player’s entire body.
It feels like the right amount of visual aide that newer players seem to like.
