While it does not come up often, I played Midas in Team Slayer yesterday and it reminded me of something. That map is far too large for the Team Slayer playlist and seems to me to be a better fit for BTB.
What say ye?

I think it’s too big for a 4v4, but it might just fit for a 5v5. This is where our Squad playlist comes in after Halo 4. erhem
Don’t think it would work well for BTB because it doesn’t seem like it could support vehicle gameplay very well, past the one Ghost it has already.
I think it might be too small for BTB. I found it worked out fine in 4v4, although I never played AR’s on it yet, so that may be why.
As the creator of Midas I have been dealing with this for awhile now. Midas is on the big side for a 4v4 match but too small for btb.
After a month in Matchmaking I actually went back into Midas and created a new version. The lay out was the same, but paths from the sniper man cannon up to rockets were smoothed out and paths were made smoother for ghost travel, including up to the top hill. Cover was added to counter the top hill as well, and the whole map was reduced in size by 4 feet. Sniper was moved away from the hill as well.
I started testing objectives constantly, hoping that the new size would only make it a better fit for 4v4 but a fun 1 flag or 1 bomb map as well. I mentioned that I had this version and put it in my fileshare and mentioned it to the cartographer who submitted it, but I never saw the map updated in matchmaking.
I don’t want to criticize the cartographers or 343 at all for not updating. Hell, I even understand that changing a map only a month or two into it’s existence can confuse the hell out of players and would probably be a bad move.
I just want to let you know as the map creator I hear you guys and want to give you the best possible experience on my maps.
How can I prevent having an inaccurate size in the future?
For all my new maps I’m going about timing every match. The average time till the first encounter, average overall time of a match, average time for a team to take an objective… etc.
With this average timing data I can accurately judge the sizing and also show you guys what kind of battle timing you can expect from a map.
It feels a little late in the game for any significant changes for Midas to happen before Halo 4’s release. But if asked I will still be happy to provide the newest version for a matchmaking update.
Thank you all for your interest in making Midas an enjoyable experience for players. I do love to hear your ideas and hope to hear a lot more about my future projects when they are released as well… Though expect more Unconquered style than Midas style
Simulacra Beta Video (Name May Change)
Here’s what I’ve been working on for the past 6 months for Halo 4. Love to hear what you guys think, but please post on the video and not here, lets keep this on topic for matchmaking. The earlier you guys get involved the earlier we forgers can make improvements
Back to Midas though, the ghost use man cannons to get to higher ground, in fact you’ll do an awesome front flip if you use the man cannon to get up to top hill and land perfectly… Got boarded the other day midflip and it was awesome! haha
