So earlier, I got my copy of Halo 4 at the midnight release. I purchased the Limited Edition. As soon as I received it, I rushed home to jump online and play a few games with some friends.
Well, before doing so, I decided to redeem the whopping 10 codes I received from pre-ordering the game at GameStop and the codes from the Limited Edition itself.
Upon redeeming the 10th code, I noticed something that made my heart skip a beat: before I had redeemed the codes, I had forgotten to sign out of my roommate’s Xbox Live account, thus giving each and every code to my roommate, whom doesn’t even play Halo.
My question is this - is there anything I can do in order to get the codes put under my name? My roommate said he’d comply with anything he’d have to do if it were possible to transfer them over in some way.
Before it even comes up - I tried seeing if I could use the stuff that the codes unlocked on my account. Since it was the same Xbox, I thought it’d be possible. Well, it’s not. He is the only person who can use it, including the Map Pass and all of my other stuff, which is weird, because I’ve encountered a similar situation in the past with a different game that required an Online Pass that enabled multiplayer for me, however in that situation, I accidentally redeemed the pass to a friend’s account, but it still allowed me to play online, even when I played on my own Xbox.
As you may imagine, this whole situation really aggravates the hell out of me, as I paid the extra cash for all this stuff and feel like I basically got screwed out of the extra $40.
I hate to tell you this dude, but you’re boned. MS won’t give you replacement codes even if they remove them from your roommates GT. They would view that as a refund… and well, MS doesn’t give refunds on codes.
BUT, try calling XBOX Live support anyways… they might surprise us both. 1-800-4-MY-XBOX
As sad as it sounds, I honestly think I may have an aneurysm if I can’t do anything about this. I sure as sh*t didn’t pay extra for absolutely nothing, on top of the MONTHS of waiting I had to endure.
Sorry to hear that, and I hate to say this as well, but you’re probably out of luck on this one. It’s incredibly unlike that Microsoft will give you replacement codes for those.

That would be a license transfer, and unfortunately that only accounts for moving a license from one console to another, not from one GT to another.

Don’t worry pal, take the LE back to the store and say the disc stops working after like 30 minutes (too long for them to test while you’re there) and you want a replacement. Youll get all your LE codes in a new game box.
Edit; Then ask gamestop is they have any spare preorder codes, im sure they’ll have thousands of spares available, especially if you’ve bought an LE. You could always say you forgot to pick them up when you first went to the midnight launch.
Do you and your roommate use the same xbox? If thats the case you are fine, codes downloaded on one profile is usable on all the others on the same xbox.
If you have 2 seperate xboxes you can download his profile to your xbox, the go to his download history and download the dlc to your xbox. But then you will only be abel to use the dlc when you are conected to internet.

Yea having the same problem here, and 18004MYXBOX said to just come post here for help, since 343 would have to deal with this, as they couldn’t do anything. Though there is no contact information that I can find for 343 Industries on this site.

I would probably smash my xbox to pieces if 10+ codes were applied to my room mate’s account.
Thankfully only my best friend and I use my xbox so I wouldn’t feel THAT bad if they were applied to my best friend’s account…

well it should not be account locked and MS cant really do anything about it. was told to call back in 2 weeks. but ya 343 you really need to not have it account locked.
unless of course your roommate would kindly give you his account? lol which is likely not to happen.
