Redeemed Halo on Wrong Gamertag

Hello,

A few weeks ago I received an Xbox One console which included the Master Chief Collection. I installed and haven’t had any problems! Last week I bought a console as a gift for my brother, same edition. He had put my gamertag on his system so that we could play together, but when he installed the game he forgot to log back onto his account. My gamertag, MegRose2011 now has 2 licenses, while his gamertag dyldee didn’t receive one (but the game downloaded successfully).

I called Xbox Support today to see what could be done and they did see that 2 licenses were listed on my account while none were listed on his. They stated that since this was a freeby, they couldn’t retract the license and move it to the correct account and suggested that I contact this forum. The contact which I spoke with was Ivan from the contact number 1-800-469-9269 and contact email Xbox Customer Support <XBOX_.LIVE.NA.00.EN.TPR.EDI.CS.T01.SPT.00.PI@css.one.microsoft.com>. I’m still working with Ivan and he’s mentioned that he’s more than happy to provide whatever information is needed to get this fixed!

I do have both codes if needed as proof, and can supply which dates the redeem had occurred. I appreciate any help I can get! Not a very good gift if they can’t play it without my password :frowning:

Thank you!!!
Megan

Hm, really this should be something for Xbox Live Support to handle as it’s dealing with licensing and XBL accounts rather than a game issue. If they say the can’t help, then perhaps you could set each others consoles as a Home Console - that way you can share all your digital purchases. So if you buy a game, your brother can play it without buying it and vice-versa. You can find details on how to do that here on the Xbox Support site. Hopefully that will help you out

Thanks for your reply. They stated that the issue was a little unique because the gamertag which it’s attached to has a different home console; It couldn’t be set as a home console to fix the issue. We live a few hours away from each other, so it makes it a tad difficult to easily share.

Xbox Support stated that they believe the only way to alleviate would be to issue a new license. If it was purchased and not redeemed they could fix. If this can’t be done they’re going to try to assist in other ways, but I’m supposed to visit this avenue first before exploring that option.
