Open world… grapple hook… sounds like more of a Far Cry game leak to me. In all seriousness though I don’t know how I feel about a grapple hook in Halo. I guess it would be fine only if the game is open world.
I’ve seen the screenshot somewhere and I really don’t know if the source is trustful or not.
However, I’m not against pick up items (whether they will be called equipment or not). On the contrary, it would be something I’d be looking forward to. Portable gravity lifts, grapple hooks, (portable?) man cannons, Teleporters etc. are just another, way more interesting way for map traversal.
I mean, again, we don’t know if the source is reliable or not, but if it is, I look at this whole direction as a replacement for Sprint. Don’t forget the fact they are indeed testing the run & gun movement in Halo 5 with the mythic playlist. I mean it’s still the H5 weapon sandbox, but I think the real intention is it to show people in which direction the next game will be going.
We Lost Planet now, boys and girls! But seriously, I wound’t read into the leaked screenshot too much. It could be that the grapple will indeed be in Infinite, or it could just be something that the devs messed around with at an earlier point of development. We’ll see how things turn out later this year.
I haven’t seen the screenshot, but for those who have, it’s there a chance it’s just a fancy animation as part of an assassination? That would have a grapple hook in the game and have zero effect on game play.
Just a thought. I’m indifferent to its inclusion. If it’s implemented well, it’ll be fun, just like almost any other feature in gaming.
I don’t see a need for a grapple hook when they can just bring back the grav lift equipment from H3. This makes me worried they’re trying to take stuff from COD, and that can’t lead to anything good.
