are the red tips on their tentacles their sensory organs? or just tentacles?

this has been bugging me for a while that these things are walking around blind and death. they cant see out of their hosts eyest because if you look at the elite flood their heads are pushed back and up.

Yes those are sensory organs, and you don’t necessarily need eyes to “see”.
They use the feelers to find hosts, like a snakes tounge, use thhe eyes of the host until new more precise feelers can grow, then the head serves no purpose, so it just gets shoved off backwards
I looked it up, and I found something , something small, but maybe fits the bill.
The precursor-Powder-stuff that prehistoric humans put on their pets began mutating them, caus4ing them to grow these weird poofy grows on their backs, maybe they are to first bit of Flood to develop?
