The first Red Energy sword debuted with Halo 2 Anniversary’s multiplayer but as a weapon wielded by the infected. Then it made it’s second appearance in a Halo Wars 2 cutscene, wielded by an elite. Who else thinks we should see elites wield red swords in gameplay for the first time in HI? I also think there should be a different variety of plasma colors for covie weapons too. Like yellow or green plasma rifles. Not really needed, but it’d be a cool aspect.
Well the Red Energy Sword was first seen by the Silent Shadow. As for the Plasma I’m fine with what we got. Red, Blue, Green, Purple are all fine to me. Too many colors would confuse people on the Plasma strength. Remember Green weakest, Blue/Purple medium, Red Strongest.
I would like to see more of the red plasma in Halo. I thought the red sword in Halo 2 Infection was really well designed, it looks like it has veins almost. Would love to see it return in Halo Infinite for infection!
I forget, does the Banished use red swords exclusively? Maybe the Banished could use red and everyone else use blue. You could pick up Banished swords though of course.

Red definitely isnt the strongest. Blue is. In Halo 2 both red and blue kill in 18 hits. The red is just faster. In halo 5 the storm rifle is considerably stronger the Brute plasma rifle. Even the plasma pistol in halo 5 is also (technically) stronger as it kills in less rounds (same in halo reach and I think H4).
Lore wise the Blue plasma rifle is stronger but the brute one has a bigger kinetic impact upon hit.
Reality wise all would kill you with a single direct hit as the super heated plasma of halo will make your flesh explode from the fluids in your body being instantly evaporated and bursting out your skin. Even if your leg is hit you’ll probably die of shock.
Back to the colours. I wouldn’t mind being able to change the properties of weapons in forge. Like imagine being able to modify the plasma colour and even the projectile size for some rediculous gametypes. Even change the projectile as a whole, make your own scarab gun. Like there’s already a “glitch” that let’s us change weapon projectiles with the weapon pad. Why not just give us complete freedom in forge

Red is supposed to be stronger lore wise. The higher the intensity the more it’s supposed to burn. In the games Red is faster only in the Brute variants. We’ve never seen a Brute Storm Rifle. In fact the Shadow’s Turret and Phantom’s turrets do way more damage that your standard Plasma Turret. This is not even factoring the impact that the Red Plasma it literally shakes the screen when the Phantom fires or Spirit fires in later games.

Well In the HW2 cutscene I was referring to, it’s actually a covenant Elite wielding the Red Energy sword attempting to kill Atriox. & I think the Banished still use normal Energy Swords.

The only difference in Energy Sword colors was in Halo 5 Warzone. The Greenish orange one gave you faster speed I think it was like called the Vorpal Talon. Then of course the Prophet’s Bane granted you Infinite Active Camo.

Right but I mean lore wise is there a difference between the red and blue?

Lore wise the blue is still stronger as the red as stated in the design details “Unlike standard plasma rifles, the Jiralhanae variant fires a weaker bolt, identified by the bolts’ red hue. The weapon compensates for this weakness with a higher rate of fire, as well as achieving better penetration and stronger kinetic impact than its Sangheili-issued counterpart”. If you look at the Scale of Soirapt, it has a blue glow followed by a red trail indicating its stronger than standard but not by much, which is true because it kills in 1 less round. All plasma can inflict 3rd degree burns and be lethal. Even if we saw a brute storm rifle at most it’ll have a higher fire rate to compensate for the weaker rounds or fire for longer. Drop ship turrets will deal considerably more damage because they’re simply bigger, the bolts and the guns are much larger than those held in hand, whats going to hurt more? A pistol round or a shot from a GUA-8 Avenger (the mini gun attached to the A10 plane)? Why the plasma pistol is green is beyond me

I’m not talking about the Plasma Rifles I’m talking about the Plasma cannon and just Plasma in the series in general. Typically in Halo, the Plasma varies from weapon system. However, if the wiki says Blue is stronger, then Blue is stronger. But it’s supposed to be Red. The Shadow Turret and Dropship turrets are much larger and deal more damage. If we’re counting Warzone we only ever got Brute Plasma Rifles we never got standard Plasma Rifles with regular upgrades like the Brute Variant. The color was almost always supposed to indicate strength. This is not even getting into weapons like Plasma Repeaters which don’t even drain shields but kills faster than a standard Plasma Rifle when the shield is down and its shots are Blue.

Lore wise the color change never really did anything different it was more for fear and aesthetics. Because the Silent Shadow weren’t even the only ones we saw use a Red Energy Sword. The Executioner for Atriox like someone mentioned also had a Red Energy Sword.
Red and blue versions for plasma rifles and swords are good for me. Maybe a green plasma rifle that functions like the spv3 brute pr (slower rate of fire, higher damage). If we get red and blue swords, which would be great, I almost want to see 343 experiment with how they function as separate weapons. What I was thinking, and mentioned in an older post, is that it’d be cool if the energy sword (blue) were to be like the halo 5 sword but the sword still glows when invisible and maybe a bit more swing time, like ravening silver.
Then the red sword (or blood sword. That sounds much better) would turn invisible when you do and doesnt swing as quickly as the blue sword. This makes the energy sword best for direct combat and the blood sword best for stealth.

Red should not be stronger. In real life a blue flame is hotter than a red one and in halo blue stronger than red. The plasma repeater has a purple hue around it indicating that it’s slightly weaker which it is, as in halo reach the repeater kills in 18 shots whereas the plasma rifle kills in 16. Blue is and always should be stronger than red
Man Bloody Blades are back? That is cool.

In real life isn’t the whiter the Plasma the hotter it is? Well I learned something new. I thought because of how big and concussive the blast are from the Dropships that Red would be the strongest. I guess that makes sense because when I think about the space battles, the Energy Projector is Blue/White and those one shot UNSC ships.

Interestingly enough I also just read a source, Plasma strength goes from “red, orange, yellow, blue, violet, and ultraviolet.” Which makes me wonder where did 343 get Green from, I would actually pay money to get a Plasma Launcher that shot Yellow or Ultraviolet. Funny enough we’ve seen Plasma Torpedoes and the ship lasers shoot Ultraviolet which is rare in real life.

The plasma repeater has a purple hue around it indicating that it’s slightly weaker which it is, as in halo reach the repeater kills in 18 shots whereas the plasma rifle kills in 16. Blue is and always should be stronger than red

Where is this source? Also remember bungie made the plasma pistol not 343. I’m thinking the green has a unique property that allows for emp. Like how you can use copper sulphate to make green flames in real life

In halo 5 the storm rifle is considerably stronger the Brute plasma rifle. Even the plasma pistol in halo 5 is also (technically) stronger as it kills in less rounds (same in halo reach and I think H4).

Fire itself and Plasma are two different properties. The thing is Blue also has EMP such as the Power Drain. Also this page
