I think it’s interesting I’ve never seen this discussed, but the red team on Raid on Apex 7 seems to have an advantage. They have 3 more routes to get to the spire. While the spire doesn’t guarantee victory, it can provide an advantage getting to all 3 legendary bosses as well as great sight lines to both armories. So the degree of advantage is debatable, but I’m certainly not complaining I just wanted to point out the advantage.
Let me know if that link works, it’s my first time linking to an imgur I uploaded. Also, let me know if blue team has any access points like this. I don’t think they do.
I’d say blue has an advantage. An armory very close to 2 legendary bosses, even if spire is out of their control. They can ambush red armory easily in the beginning of the game. Red armory has a more extreme uphill battle for spire than blue. Those three put red at a great disadvantage. Still it is asymmetrical, each side has a give and take.
Every game I’ve played as blue I’ve almost certainly won. I’ve never thought red team had any advantage, in fact I think they are at a disadvantage generally
There was a thread about this last week actually. And it has been discussed many times, including by myself but it’s just not that big of a discussion because sadly; it’s just not really something 343 could fix… All the geometry is set in stone and it would be too much to fix. But what I could gather is that everyone agrees that Reds DO have an advantage.
Everyone has come to a conclusion that Red has total map control, but Blues have better access to the final Warden kill. Take it as you may, both teams have an advantage, but with Red with the unfair advantage throughout the course of the match. And a single Warden kill will always never be enough for the losing team if they’re handicapped the whole time…
Reds have instant access to the Beach, an Armory, and a cave system that they can use to traverse the map. The caves allow them to get an Elite Assasin, Elite Major, and Soldier Guard whilst being in relative safety and close proximity to their Spawn. With this, they have easiest access to Spire. With Spire held, they can get all Legendary boss kills from two entry points to the Beach. (Spire caves/ Home Base) and if they are successful with the capture of Red Armory and Spire; they can spawn camp the Blue Armory until capture. Which will eventually lead to spawn camping of Blue home base…
All together, reds have the advantage of bottle necking blues into spawn since blue armory is out in the open and too close to their spawn. Whilst red armory is confined and in a safe place where blues have a hard time getting into.
I may have a solution, but it may break the flow of the map. But I’m going to draw up a schematic for it when I have time. But anyways, Reds do have an advantage. I could even argue they have an advantage on ALL the maps. Even in Arena, but I guess that’s for another discussion. But Warzone has the worst map designs and design decisions I’ve ever seen from a game. (This is from someone with knowledge of this kind of stuff.)
All in all, it’s nothing major. A hard fought blue team can easily win if they control the map.

That’s true about the blue side armory being close to the beach, but if red has the spire theyre still closer. You make a great point about both sides having advantages though.

I can see you came prepared for this discussion! I missed that thread somehow. That’s pretty cool you have experience with map design!
