Is it a good idea to recycle a building as it’s about to die? Therefore you can get some resources rather than letting it die? Same goes for bases, or is it not worth the refund to sac your building s with less than say 5% HP?
You’d get a bit of supplies back. But it’s up to you if you can or if you want the enemy to spend a bit longer destroying it.
I usually recycle my buildings as they’re about to die, it’s not too shabby.
Id only do it if I thought I’d loose that building/base and the situation demanded it. If it was generators/power extractors then no because they are very expensive.
As a friend in Halo Wars 1 said, GET YOUR MONEYS WORTH BACK! So yeah, I recycle, sometimes I use it as a decoy or delay to buy some more time.

Its only worth recycling non-resource producing buildings because every second they’re up you would make more then what you would get selling them off, additionally if your opponent is busy killing your non-resources producing building then it would become more beneficial to leave them up and tank the damage.
You would really only want to sell off if you think your opponent can kill your main base faster then you could blink an eye, in which case you would want to sell off that main base instead because you just lost A Hypothetical Game…
Usually it’s just better to leave them up. The time the base stays alive is probably more valuable.
Now if 8+ vultures arrive at your base and lock on that Phoenix missile. Might as well sell cause your base is gonna drop in about 3 seconds lol.
Simple answer is yes. If a building is 100% going to die it’s always better to recycle it when it gets to low health. If your main base is going to die (assuming you’re in a base trade situation) recycle all your buildings individually and then your main base as it gets to lower % health.
Thanks for the replies, so what I’ve gathered is it’s something I should do only if I’m 100% gonna lose a non-resource building. I will probably start this practice in certain situations and see how it works out for me

This is literally how i win late games, 8+ laser beams pointed at my opponents base signaling the beginning of the end.
Always. If someone is attacking the central structure but not the buildings, always recycle all the buildings you can before the base dies. You get a higher payout the more health a building has, so recycling all the pads on a base if they haven’t been damaged is a huge boost. The most important ones to recycle are generators, as they have some of the highest payout. Then, right before the base goes, recycle it too. It puts you a LITTLE bit less behind after losing a base but that can be worth it.
Also, if a base or structure is mid-construction and you see the slightest sign of an enemy making a move towards it, recycle it immediately if you’re unsure of your ability to defend. This gives you your full investment back if it has not taken fire yet. These are crucial, easy bits of micro that can set your game way ahead, and is part of why map awareness is so important.
