Recycled Reach weapon animations?

It bothers me that they’re reusing the draw, reload, and melee animations from your HUD from Reach. Not because I think it is lazy, but because this is supposed to be a brand new game. And because Reach in general left a bad taste in some people’s mouths.

I would rather see brand new weapon animations. And not just pulling the weapon out, because that’s boring. Picture the CE Assault Rifle draw animation.

Whatever time and energy it would take to redo those little things could be spent on making new weapons and vehicles or finding and eliminating glitches. There are bigger fish to fry so to speak.

I’m sorry but I just can’t agree with that. Animations are a big part of any game. Besides, none of the other Halo games had any problem making new animations.

Please 343, no more 2 melee animations per weapon in campaign. It’s been in 4 Halo games and I’ve hated how it absolutely kills immersion.

What’s so great about a lame punch when I could be using the weapon’s signature melee?

I hope they change it. The main premise that COD is copy paste is that animations have remained the same since COD4, I hope Halo 4 does not go down that path.

However, be specific, I didn’t notice any major similarities in animations, perhaps excluding the DMR.

The first time I noticed this is when I saw someone sprinting with the magnum. I do hope they change it.

Probably placeholder. Even the Carbine reticle is copypasta from the needle rifles.

It’s NOT finished! Remember Halo: CEA? My point exactly.

Things like animation sequences and visual things are very commonly placeholders from one game to the next.

Saying that i would be fine if they reused some, Reachs animation was great.

Let’s hope so…

I agree, I liked the Reach animations. The only animation that I thought was “meh” was the Concussion Rifle.

They are most likely place-holder. I highly doubt they wouldn’t change the animations, as Halo is a “feel” game, rather than an “experience” game. If it doesn’t “feel” new, it’ll be a waste of time and money to the fans.

This, AND the game is incomplete. Meaning little details like that are overlooked for the sake of getting the game to work properly during the E3 demo. It is most likely a placeholder.

like stated they r probably place holders and if not it ok with me. honestly when i play im not worried about reload animations and what not, that is something truly minor to gripe about imo.

Placeholders, most likely.

The stuff at E3 was an early build. There were more important things than weapon animations to push ahead of schedule and polish for the demo.

The animations for those are fine. Would you rather them waste time and money on new animations?

Laziness.

This. Remember the E3 build was actually much older than it was when they showed it b/c they had to take time out of regular development to polish it off. 343i has been seeing all kinds of feedback from what was shown at E3. I can’t wait to see the next build. Whenever that may be. The game will only get better from this point on.

I don’t see why it even matters. But like others have said, they’re probably just placeholders.
