RECYCLED MODELS

We’ve all seen the evolution of vehicles from Halo CE-3. However in Halo 4: tanks, banshees and decommissioned things magically appeared whilst the newer things disappeared.

For Next Gen Halo are we going to see recycled Halo Reach vehicles and weapons? Or are we going to see modern Halo 3 things like Hornets? Missile pods etc…?

It would be excellent for EVERY Halo Reach-Halo 3 weapon and vehicle to be in the game to add that massive sandbox/variety feeling, but having the ancient bulky, ugly, darkened models is a big no no.

In my opinion, I’d like to see an evolved Halo 3 era tank, not a back to the future Reach ‘thing.’

De-comissioned? I don’t think there’s such thing. For the sake of gameplay, they would throw out and bring back what they see fit.
Anyway, warthog should return back to Reach model (and sound), Banshee should be Halo 3 model, same as the Ghost, The tank isn’t that bad IMO, i’d rather see the Falcon rather than the Hornet (it just seems more like a human vehicle), and a different covie air vehicle for once. Also, i agree with you on the weapons.

The only real difference I’ve noticed with Halo 3’s tank and Reach’s is that Reach’s looks better. Because you know, same thing, but with more polygons for sharper details

Honestly I think your wish might granted. Just think; newer and stronger hardware = higher polycount and textures. So why use the same model when you have the ability to increase the detail which is something Bungie loved to show off and hopefully 343 will continue. Because I also would like to have new models though as for the banshee I hope they bring back the insectisoid purple, green, and glass look instead of this weird looking single color thing halo 4 has going on.

I would suggest looking again, there are a lot of changes.

Here, I’ll give you a run-down: removal of smoke/grenade tubes, removal of tools(shovels, pickaxes, backpacks, fuel canisters, etc), addition of pointless stripes on front treads, change in design of driver’s canopy to make it open and less protected, less protected on bottom hinge of cannon, more decals added, paint decals color changed from black to white, overall color changed from tan/brown to light green, vents added to the sides of the chassis, viewport near front-left of the chassis made smaller and bars protecting it from collision damage removed, lights moved from center chassis to front treads, less protection for sides of treads, clamps and reinforcement bars added to front chassis, and handles for soldiers to hold while riding on treads were removed.

I was severely disappointed that Halo 4 reused a lot of Reach’s assets. Sure, they did retexture them all, but we were stuck with some assets that were there since Halo 3 (I’m looking at you, Covenant Plasma Turret).

But, with a new console, we need new models. And with a much larger team, I’m sure 343i will have the manpower to create a beautiful game. I’d love to see older Halo 3-era weapons and vehicles return, and if they do, I have no doubt that they’ll be rebuilt to meet the new standards.

I’ll be honest, the new look for the Banshee has grown on me.

When the Brutes flew the Banshees in Halo 3, their silly feet would stick out the back (Chief’s might as well, I don’t remember). I know 343 is trying to steer away from the silly, but ANYWAY:

HALO CE BANSHEE: it could hover, you could fire fuel rod while firing plasma turrets … it’s totally unbalanced for matchmaking … but it’s the best.

Graphically speaking, they should not reuse models unless they have a legitimate reason, which is not along the lines of ‘time constraints’.

Regarding their presence, they should be included with missing functionality restored, at least for Campaign. I.e. A Banshee that lacks the control of the CE/H2 Banshee and lacks the maneuverability of the Reach Banshee is only suitable for MP. The H3 Banshee worked in MP but was atrocious in Campaign. The H4 Banshee is likewise the least viable option in Campaign.

Halo is not just about the MP.

I feel I too like it better, but more so for me since I first laid eyes on it. It looks so streamlined like it should and less clunky compared to the Halo CE/2/3 editions.

I think the halo 4 banshee looks better than the halo 3 one, IMO. But I wouldn’t mind seeing better looking vehicles with updated models

Halo: Reach vehicles and weapon designs are not redundant; as they were not decommissioned but improved upon… so Halo 3 Models and Halo: Reach would all be canon post Human-Covenant War…

In terms of Halo 3 models… I think 343 Industries have heard a lot about this issue… they have shown that after the events of the Second Requiem Campaign (Spartan Ops) that the older designs still exist… in Halo: Escalation.

Issue #1 re-introduces Covenant armour variants… from Halo 3 and Halo 4/Halo: Reach.

Perhaps 343 Industries wanted to differentiate the two Covenant factions… to show that each faction has a certain set of beliefs, lifestyle, code of conduct etc… They could be foreshadowing:

That one faction, the Separatist Elites, still believe in peace with Humanity, post Halo 3; through relative looks, that gives players the sense that, these were the Elites that we had fought with on the Ark and Earth, and made peace with…

And the other faction, the Storm Covenant, are a new and independent Covenant, which don’t believe that Humans and Sangheili, can co-exist peacefully, but still see the Forerunners and their artifacts, as sacred. The Sangheili in this Covenant still believe in the Forerunners, perhaps due to the fact that they didn’t hear of the Jiralhanae’s genocide, or of the Prophets lies; and so would have continued to follow the teachings of the Great Journey. They would have a harder time adjusting… to peace with Humans, upon finding out; plus the other species; grunts and hunters could be those that were part of the loyalist faction, that fled without a leading role or directing motive, and so were lost, and the Jackals could have returned to their pirate or mercenary ways…

The unnamed Jiralhanae Clan are shown wearing power armour from the Human-Covenant War. This probably is to show that the Brutes are not as technological advanced, as other species, and that they utilize what is given to them, but cannot improve on it.

Issue #1 and Issue #2 re-introduces vehicle variants… from Halo 3 and Halo 4/Halo: Reach.

343 Industries could be trying to show that the Storm Covenant forces are salvaging all assets, whether they are of older models… this is due to the fact they have limited engineers, and no prophets, to direct their technological repairs.

The Jiralhanae clans are also seen utilize old vehicles, seen in Halo 3.

The vehicles that are seen in Halo: Escalation are:
