Hi community it’s Chri Here,
what we prefer for Default MP armor?
Recruit or Mark VI (Chief Infinite Armor)
That’s a good question…
Honestly for me it would be Mark VI. It makes me feel a little more equal to the Master Chief as far as beinga spartan goes. That and it’s just what the old games did which I have a slight comfort for.

Halo 1-2-3 have the Mark VI armor
same idea
In Halo 1 you had Mark V armor, not Mark VI. I think the armor we see in the trailer is going to be revealed to be Mark VII armor (or higher, not sure where EU material has the highest armor in this sense right now).
And I think that should be the default for multiplayer too.
I’m thinking Chief’s amour because the Recruit armour let’s face it isn’t the prettiest and it doesn’t give off the same feeling for me. The Chief armour is iconic and who’s gonna remember recruit after years to come. And even one of the main characters (Chief) who is on the COVER of most games has it. Why would you want to start out with some random armour when you could have something more memorable. Who’s gonna remember recruit as the best default armour vs Chief’s? Not attacking any opinions out there.
Mark VI would be great!
I think this would be in line with previous Halo tropes for default armor (Halo 2/3).
Xbox Chri, New toys have recently come out showing us the new multiplayer default armor. It’s either Mark VII (Not Chief’s Gen3 Mark VI) or Recruit Gen2.

If Mark VI was default I wouldn’t change into anything else xD

Looks like a Gen3 Hybrid Of Mark V
Clearly the only sensible choice is MK.V

I think that’s the point though. You just picked up the game and started playing, you aren’t supposed to have the prettiest armor or the most bad-YOINK!- armor that exists. When you have so many options to choose from that you have to unlock through some means, the starting armor is supposed to be lackluster and make you want to work for something better that fits your style.
Master Chief; while not the fastest, strongest, smartest, or biggest Spartan, is still Legendary in his own right. So wouldn’t it be wrong to start with such a Legendary armor set? I mean, Halo: CE and Halo 2 did it because they didn’t have other choices. It was all color preference and species preference respectively. Then Halo 3 came along and offered different choices, there was no Recruit armor because there wasn’t a concept such as a ‘recruit’ Spartan at the time. Now you have Spartan-IV’s who rank up in Wargames and going through Ops, they weren’t given time as Spartans to just earn their ranks like the 2’s did. They were knocked back down to Recruit upon becoming Spartans and had to work their way back up the ladder(don’t hold me to that, I may be wrong.).
Granted, the Mark VI armor is the basic armor set for MJOLNIR in Gen I and II, so technically it counts as a starting set, but not anymore. For 2’s it was a basic set with no specialty in mind unlike Fred’s Centurion, Linda’s Argus, or Kelly’s Hermes sets. The Mark V and VI standard suit was kind of for a Jack of all Trades kind of soldier, an adapter who can just roll with whatever they have available.

Accurate and Perfect!
thanks for your opinion
I’m going to surprise myself a little here and say that I’d probably prefer the default MP armor to be a GEN3 “Recruit” variant. Not precisely the same set for Recruit seen in H4-5 (that’s a given), but some evolution along those lines. Possibly with more of a visual resemblance to the MK.V from Reach–that was an excellent default helmet that felt simple/plain without being bland or awful.
The idea that Chief’s Infinite armor is just the standard default like the old Mk.V and VI is fine, but the GEN2 MJOLNIR platform (for better or worse) expanded the sheer scope and scale of the armor in such a dramatic fashion. The lore logic behind the Recruit sets made sense (not fancy, not specialized, just a good entry level option to get a feel for the platform before delving into specialized variants). The same basic idea would make sense for the default MP armor in Infinite. Again, I’d just hope it looks more like the Mk. V than the GEN2 Recruit set did.
I think it would be sweet if they did like a halo 3 type armor mechanics where you have like one of two armor unlocks and then you go and unlock the rest of the armor sets. And they should be earned in some way. Not got lucky enough to get one in a crate. In the old days you knew how good a player was by his armor, now the worst player could have fantastic armor while amazing players will still only have mediocre armor
In my view, the new red spartan action figure that came through a slip-space jump from Halo:Reach should be the default. And we can work up to the other more iconic armors such as the Mk 4, 5, and 6 using NO MICRO-TRANSACTIONS just a credit system so that all people can enjoy these sick looking armors and grind it themselves. Also I don’t want a bunch of Chief try-hard’s trying to become Chief#2 and it would be nice if everyone MADE their own spartan, not COPIED.
I don’t dislike the recruit armor but to name it like that already makes it the “noob armor” and nobody would wear it. That’s why you can see people using the mark vi in H3 despite it being your first armor.
That new Infinite armor the figure is based on or Mark VI is good enough for me.
I feel like Recruit is silly, I don’t understand why they’d produce expensive Mjolnir armor just for the purpose of being replaced later. At least with models like Mark V it’s an in-development sort of thing.
Tournaments that use default only also just look much nicer when using a good looking set such as Mark VI with the gold visor for everyone rather than one just made to signify new players.

They confirmed that the armor is gen3 in the reveal breakdown.
